I like the feeling of being. Of seeing and knowing. Dreaming and flowing. Flowing through the thoughts that lead to feelings and emotions. But more and more I'm less into "human". Eating and breathing. Bleeding and growing. Dying through the stages of life that lead to diseases and depression.

- - - BEING - - -

Being a toad, I sit around each day watching and listening
But what I see and hear only creates more questioning
In understanding life’s purpose and what God had in mind
All I do is wonder what the hell is wrong with mankind

I sit and watch kids selling drugs in their neighborhoods
Then I wonder what they learned during their childhoods
Didn’t they learn that they will sooner or later get caught
I therefore wonder what these poor kids have been taught

I sit and watch mankind as they scurry all about
And see so many of them just looking for a handout
Handouts only make people lazy and kill their souls
But if you give them a hand you will give them goals

I sit and watch so many people living on welfare
How their lives seem so hopeless and full of despair
Welfare is not life’s answer to eradicating poverty
A good education will give them hope, prosperity

But going to school and sticking your nose in a book
Isn’t the only way to learn or gain a better outlook
Opening your eyes and mind to everything around you
Will answer so many questions and give your soul virtue

Am I my brother’s keeper, is more of a riddle than a rhyme
This question has been asked, since the beginning of time
Will anyone ever figure out the truth, to this age-old mystery
Or will mankind be forever doomed, to oppression and misery

If we are not our brother’s keeper, then who could it possibly be
When you give your heart to God, the answer is so simple to see
I am my brother’s keeper, for that is humanity’s supreme reason
For to worship ones self above all others, is life’s greatest treason

If you are one with God you will no longer ask, am I my brother’s keeper
You will care for those who cannot, which makes you stronger not weaker
To follow God is to put aside your own personal beliefs and bigotry
And to work with your fellow man, and thus, not against Humanity

For when one helps others to help themselves, that is progress
Only by working to better ourselves, will we ever achieve success
When poor people can get a decent job, and then earn their own living
They will have finally achieved a sense of self worth, that of a human being

I wrote that eight years ago and thought it went well with the theme of your post.

Doesn't sound like "Being". Sounds like a political tirade.

"We see what We want to see."

With that, you don't see how our system is degrading the very Being We are. Plus, I guess you didn't notice the opening and closing werd.

What greater Being is there in this Matrix, than to be a Human Being? You've probably never been less so maybe you don't realize there are millions that haven't experienced Being a Human Being, but you've apparantently bought into this Matrix, so you'll think there is a greater Being but there's kNot in this Matrix. You need to realize WE are on vaction here, so take a chill pill and relax.

Pina Colada anyone?

Once we find being, I think we need to re-choose being a human being, so as to be ah.. based in reality. There's nothing wrong with being a human being. These monkey bodies are an awesome infrastructure, and the possibility here in this life, in this world, to enact positive change both for ourselves and others is immense. Who would or could turn away from human being, as a human being, being? That's ridiculous. And who can say that the way things are should not be what they are?! Don't be absurd.

It's all part of being human...and you take the good with the bad.

I understand where you are coming from, I often find myself being quite unimpressed with the laws of physics...they are so tiresome.

Human being or human doing.
To be or not to be? That is the question. You are being.
You have to be before you can ask (or read) the question.
No doing is required.
It is already done.

Existentialism exists and is as much about becoming as it is about being.

Existentialism is no more than a bunch of ideas about existance, so to say existentialism exists is no more than saying ideas exist.
Can an idea exist?
An idea is a thought about something. Do thoughts exist?
Does something exist independantly from knowing?
Or is knowing primary?
Does 'knowing' have existance?
Or is 'knowing' what existance is made of?

Exactly!

Or as Nietzsche said (paraphrased), Beyond our experience the mind ceases and endless empty space and stupidity begins.

I have been frustrated by many of your posts, but your poem above was lovely. Just wanted to thank you for that.

You can't "be" the human existence without first being bound to a human body. So, until you aren't in a human body, just take it all as a part of the experience of "being human as a human being". Because, it is.

.

I ask you then, is that really what Nietzsche said or did you make it up?
You have stated 'Exactly', but what exactly are you agreeing with?

Prior to the minds involvement , there is pure intelligence.
It is only the mind that does not understand, it is only a mind that asks questions.

No, I did not make it up. Nietzsche did refer to the ultimate futility or absurdism of thought, that the mind can only expand so far and beyond that, can only perceive void.

Beyond the mind is not stupidity though.
That void is aware.

Aware and separate from human consciousness that perceives it not.
