Smell is a very direct sense. In order for you to smell something, molecules from that thing have to make it to your nose. Everything you smell, therefore, is giving off molecules -- whether it is bread in the bakery, onions, perfume, a piece of poo or whatever.

The bottom of your purse is nastier than, well your bottom. If you ever sat your purse on your desk or kitchen counter you are contaminating that surface with the bottom of your purse. In fact, public toilette seats are likely cleaner than the bottom of your purse. Food for thought.

I think the phone results are better than expected especially as lots of people take their phone into the bathroom to use it while taking a dump.

Wow that's disgusting the bit I like with the article is that they done the study in the UK but somehow with no evidence say the same if not worse in the US.

The current study was conducted in Brits, but there's not much reason to think Americans are any more hygienic

I don't know either, but if I go in the restroom and someone is in the can on the phone the first thing I do is flush, you can hear those office building siphon jet valves from a mile away and I'm sure it carries quite nicely over a phone
