Very good example of what many of the 99% are having to deal with...and the reality of the choices they are dealing with..

Excellent response to the bogus crap in those letters that was dropped to the protestors .

Sadly, a LOT of people fall through the cracks in this system. I had a similar situation. I am a nurse. I made too much money to receive assistance of any kind and I didn't make enough money to pay my medical bills. If I had quit my job and became unemployed, I could have qualified for help. I didn't do that, by the way. But I could certainly see the benefit.

Just a curious question as to why a working nurse would not have some very adequate healthcare plan?

I would think that the employers of medical professionals would see that these workers have good health coverage?

That's the kind of story that reaches into your soul and wrenches it. I wish that guy the best and I hope he has the strength to live and keep up the fight.

The thing that saddens me is that so many of these people think that Democrats and "Progressives" are on the side of the little guy. Obama's "health care reform" is a perfect example of another corporatist scheme between government and the so called "1%". If it weren't for the fact that big government is in the pocket of the banks and corporations, our standard wage would have increased proportional to inflation, (or there wouldn't even be inflation actually) and we would all be able to afford health care if we worked. There is a big difference between capitalism and corporatism. The only reason why we are in the situation we are in now is because of the governments subsidization and legal bias towards large corporations. If it weren't for this sleazy partnership, the free market would balance itself out, and there wouldn't be a need for the socialistic ideas that so many OWS'ers keep spouting. The answer is certainly not more government control of our lives people! The answer is what it has always been: Freedom and personal responsibility!

The guy got cancer, and he is mad at wall street and the government?
Way to blame the world for your misfortune.

Steve Jobs had cancer and all the money in the world
could not save him.

This guy is disabled now, he will get a disability check with medicaid
to cover the expenses.

He knows that people have gotten cancer and had there
own money to afford treatment without any help BUT still died.

Who's fault is it for him getting cancer? No ones
Who's fault is it he can not afford it? Wall streets the government WTF!>>>??!!

He should be happy he is getting it paid for now and that his
whiny bitch ass is still alive. How ungrateful!!
If there was ever a candidate for the death panel health rationing
this guy is it..
The system worked, he is getting a disability check, healthcare paid for,
and is still alive.. Sorry it was not as fast and a hop skip as he wanted it to be..

Hey, this guy is showing a letter concerning Arizona's ACCHS or also what is known as the states Medicaid program.

He is 100% correct. My neighbor was diagnosed with breast cancer in January of 2011. She could not get health coverage because she was working part time at a department store.

She had to leave her job to qualify for the state health coverage. Low and behold, after considered being, "cured," the coverage was immediately dropped, even though she still had no job.

As of now, side effects from her cancer treatment have almost killer her. She has had 2 strokes, and several blood clots, and will probably never be able to work again. Guess what, when she had both strokes, she was still denied state health insurance coverage.

In Arizona, you have to have something like cancer to get coverage or children, which really pisses me off. Meanwhile my friend with all the health issues who is now cancer free, can't get coverage while the illegal lady across the street with 5 kids can.

How is this fair?

Steve Jobs was also wealthy enough to get put on multiple organ donation lists, blocking others from recieving an organ that would have saved their life.

Some cancers are only deadly if not treated early, some are treated very easily if caught early. Some are a death sentence no matter how rich you are. Steve Jobs had a form of cancer that no known cure existed for but for sure he got the best and most timely treatments available. Steve Jobs isn't the enemy, our corrupt system is.

This reminds me of the bank robber who robbed a bank because he was dying. I feel bad for both these guys. Sad the countries we say are the worst are sometimes the best when it comes to free healthcare.

Absolutely! I have wondered the same thing.

The problem was that I had to have six surgeries and I was off work long enough for my health insurance to cancel. I couldn't afford Cobra and had to go without insurance after my last surgery until I was back to work long enough for it to be back on track for me.

Wow, you are JUST PLAIN UNEDUCATED!!!

Though you will probably never admit it - I would bet you are some upper middle class white male from upper middle class parents. Do you just listen to talking points on Fox News? Here are the facts:

1. Having cancer DOES NOT automatically get you disability. You have to be unable to work for an entire year. A six month cancer treatment will not get you payments.

2. Delaying cancer treatment until you are unable to work is not just a "hop and skip", it's a death sentence in many cases. In others, you will lose a breast, organ or leg if you wait that long. While you are waiting to be sick enough until you can't work, you will often be in horrible pain.

3. No one is blaming the 1% of his cancer, they are blaming them for him losing his steady American job and for his delay in getting insurance. They are to blame because they fund people to feed talking points to uneducated people like you - so people like you won't know the truth about how programs like disability work. They also are to blame by conducting illegal, unethical, and just plain poorly run businesses which needed to be bailed out by taxpayers.

First, dont ask me why but theres a difference between unemployed and having no job. Its a bit complicated but it's the government fault. Wall street is more then likely related about the issue on unemployment numbers but i won't go there, it wasn't the purpose of my post.

I wanted to discuss about the way people value life in america. The reason why theres soo many crimes, over loaded prisons, street gangs, firearms, corrupted authorities. Is maybe directly related to the fact that life have very litle value these days. People usually don't care about those issue mainly because TV made us think it was an ethnic, race problems. Its a very pervert way to legitimized or to shape foreign affairs from the biggest war machine by far in the name of our so called freedom. Freedom to be a zombie if you ask me.

In a world where you decide to display freedom to live, you might have to pay more in taxes and stuff like that but in the end you will end up in a much better place for our kids.. for you at the very moment when you will leave this place.

Thanks for sharing my picture. I've been trying to track where it goes and see what people are saying.

If you want to verify that I am the same man, my facebook is under my real name, Guy Gondron.

I'm not on disability. I don't qualify for disability. I'm only partially limited from doing some things, but no, I don't get any checks from the government. I get food stamps and healthcare. Financial help is only for those with kids, apparently.
