I've thought about it, I mean the source info is interesting and perhaps worthy of some discussion. The thing is for some people, me included, every sentence that contains Uranus is bound to be a pun (like the title here). I fully realize that I set my thread for failure by the suggestive opener that I gave it and I dont blame anyone but me for having it shut down. If we spelled it Urinus would that help?

We just have to ignore the new discovery? Is this the real reason why there are so few missions to Uranus?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I guess what I am truly curious about is that if I had played it straight, and worded my opener as carefully to avoid puns as I did to provide them would the thread have gone any differently? That is kind of a fascinating subject in and of itself I sort of wish someone would give it a go.

OK Rant over
thanks ATS, Mods you all do make fine work of a tough job

There is no way to make a clean Uranus thread!

I just think we all have a little 12 year old kid inside that still finds humour in the world.

I sure had fun on the last thread!

the new feature on the planet uranus is certainly an interesting topic for debate, but

your never going to get a uranus/urine-us thread going without some form of mockery, its physically impossible, unless you go back to roman names for planets, was uranus neptune or something else? lol..

ed: i fail badly, they didn't know about uranus in roman times did they..wonder what the maya called it.

I was interested in the news about the planet but after wading through the puns I gave up. It's only a matter of time before it starts in here too. So what's this about a spot? Could it be from a comet or other debris or is it a new storm?

it could be like aroura.

having no data makes the guesswork difficult though. does anyone have data/photos/a ufo so we can check it out?

Even the most seasoned news anchors giggle when Uranus is mentioned.

There is nothing a person can say that won't get a giggle.......

Even just mentioning uranus

Hold on folks,
The OP does have an interesting subject to put forward, and we had a few laughs last night so that end is exhausted. So maybe a look around might bring up some info that is already known about that planet, so that we can at least speculate on it.

It is kind of a shame really Uranus is a pretty cool place.
yet I giggle every time I use it in a sentence, I mean trying to play it straight almost makes it more funny.... its hopeless

Change the pronunciation visually, Nope you have it right, emphasis is on first vowel 'U' and not the first consonant 'R'

Not really. You just need the services of one of these.

I read the thread that was closed. I didn't get it....
But then I never did have a normal sense of humor. In fact I've never been able to comprehend the scatalogical genre at all.... I don't think its funny.
I do know 5 year olds that would laugh though.....

So, I imagine the short answer to the title of this thread would be, "Grow up".
