This thread's purpose is to ask one question,

What is the 4th Branch of Government?

Let's see how many people actually get this as a clearcut majority won't!

Well, the 4th Estate would be the media.... I suppose the 4th Branch would be corporations/Non-Governmental Organizations. Either or both can exist separate from yet essentially equal to the other 3 which make them the only entities I can think of which could properly hold that position.

Within that category, I would have to say the Federal Reserve Bank is the most direct representation.

So..did I get close to what OP had in mind?

Oh for crying out loud there are only 2 possible choices one has:

1. The People
2. The Media.

Once upon a time in America the media use to be considered the 4th branch so that leaves what?

The people.

It is a term used to describe any group that manipulates or controls the three branches of government.

Corporations via lobbyists, for example

However, the more obvious choice would be the media and of course the PEOPLE of this country.

So,I suspect the answer you are looking for, is, We the people.

Fourth branch?
That's got to be either the unions and lobbyists?

The Media (such as it is) is the 4th Estate. "The people" is us is the whole enchilada.

I'd say the 4th Branch is the Federal Reserve, at this point.

There is no fourth branch.

However, if your political studies take you further, then it can be argued that the administrative bureaucracy and agencies could be considered an unofficial 4th branch due to it's power delegated to it by congress and it's impressive clout.

Well lately its been the regulatory branch which is the EPA, FCC, etc., etc., even though we only recognize the three . Judicial, legislative, and executive.

Black operations are our second branch of the executive division. Where do you think all our dollars go? It goes to war and budgets that no rational human being would approve of.
