Small town protests spreading across the country. (Ashland Kentucky live feed)

Today (the 15th) is the planned day for the Occupy Wall Street protests to spread across the country.
People in small towns everywhere are joining in to voice their dissatisfaction with the Wall Street, the Big 4 banks (Citi, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase, and Bank of America), as well as the U.S. Government.

I am making this thread so everyone can post live feeds, pictures, and info on the smaller, local protests.
There are three in the area of my hometown and my friend that has been to them has sent me a live feed he is hosting to the one in Ashland Kentucky. There are also others nearby in Huntington W.Va. and Portsmouth Oh. at Shawnee St. University.

I live in small town USA better known as red country and there's not a snow balls chance in hell anyone will be protesting here.

I live in KY. and without political bias, I think the fine people of Ashland will be kicking some liberal, hippie ass. (not that i agree with that)

You speak for all of them I'm sure. The people protesting in Ashland are the same people that voted Rand Paul in so I doubt you know what you are talking about.

Nah.. actually from what I have heard there are a lot of Tea Party members supporting the OWS movement in Ashland. The police have been actually helpful and the bus driver's union has already donated quite a bit of money to the protestors.

Also, with the Marathon/Ashland oil and AK Steel plants, imagine the union support.

After doing some looking, there are at least 5 here in the Ozarks region. Here I'd been thinking I'd have to travel hours to get to one that might allow me to get a true feel for what this is all about from being there. Imagine my surprise to find that if I time this right, I might easily see 3 this weekend and get a wider perspective to decide how much further, if at all, I want to throw my time and effort into this. I just have to SEE it....I can't decide based on videos and net posts...

I'll drop some notes back here as the weekend goes on and I've seen the ones I get to in my area.

The Occupy Indiana movement, based on the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York City, picked up an endorsement over the weekend from the AFL-CIO.

My home state and I don't live near any major metropolitan areas we will see yeah that's really a grassroots movement.

Cool.. all input is appreciated. In Ashland they seem to have a better grip and direction actually than some of the larger protests. There are anti-Obama signs seen equally with the anti Wall St. signs and there is no fighting. There seems to be a general consensus that it is more than a Wall St. problem.

The protestors have organized into groups for media, food, medical, and safety/security. They have made the front page of the paper twice and if you read the article seem articulate and know whats up (i posted the Daily Ind. article in the OP).

They are stressing the importance of remaining bipartisan.

Shawnee State U? I hate working nights. I miss all the local news. The live feed is off line. Curious as to what the Youtube generation that is out of work and live in one of the most economically depressed part of the country have to say. Oh I guess I can always see it on WSAZ right?

Im just an Old west KY hippy / hillbilly right-wing something or other with no political affiliation over here in the common wealth.

Yeah didn't think WSAZ would air something unless it dealt with breaking the law somehow. Guess Frank Lewis needed to write about something since there is no word on the loan guarntee.

Those are good pics. But union support is not a good thing, in my opinion. Unions are one of the reasons why labor is so expensive in the U.S., and expensive labor results in expensive goods and/or job exportations. Unions are also very much in favor of giant, massive corporations, because that is where they get their most lucrative labor contracts.

This is not to say that I think all the OWS people, such as the ones you depict in your photos, are in support of big gov/big corp/big unions. I don't think that at all. But I do wonder why unions--which generally are in favor of a lot of the stuff OWS purports to be against, including lobbying power, which they use often and effectively--are joining this movement.
