The H1B visa workers fall under the trade agreements that US have with the foreign countries in question, US gives away tax payer dollars to train workers in countries like Pakistan and India, then they hired the people under the countries rules under the trade agreements pacts this means they will come to the US to work for the specific salaries and for certain amount of months or years under the contracts, this workers can not leave the companies to work for others no even after the contracts are over, they have to fall again for visas, occurs many companies go around the rules as usual.

Interesting also to learn that is ok to use tax dollars to train foreign workers but they can not use them to train American workers.

The U.S. government is spending $22 million to train workers in foreign countries to learn tech skills and English so they can outsource American IT jobs.

I know. I can hardly believe it myself.

According to InformationWeek, the U.S. agency known as USAID (United States Agency for International Development) is partnering with outsourcing service companies in countries like Sri Lanka to teach more than 3,000 workers technology skills in tools like Enterprise Java.

To make it easier for those workers to work with American companies who have outsourced work, American taxpayers are also paying to train the workers in English.

My husband works in an office and is on his computer
everyday.His workload keeps him so busy that he forgets
to eat his lunch at times.
If a major project is coming up due,he even has to work
from home on his "day" off or go in.
Sometimes he is on a call list if there is a problem at work.
We have had calls for him to fix a problem late into the evening
or when he had just come home.
Having an office job is not all it's cracked up to be.There are some
who can goof off and have a great time playing on their pc's.This
is one of the reasons why others have more work dumped on them
to make up the slack.
Some people have great work ethics and a lot don't,they are too lazy
and fob the work onto others.

I hope he has a good psychiatrist and pharmacist and good health insurance !!

You are right Margo, whenever the Visa is mentioned it means that they want to bring in foreign workers who they don't have to pay as much as Americans because they are simply happy to get out of dusty and overcrowded India to come to ....[Indian Accent ON] "Amereekah" which is where many if not most are originating from.

In fact the last company that I worked for, was replacing their engineering staff with Indian engineers for a fraction of what they were paying American engineers.

Simply look at the Math, in India, an engineering graduate earns $21K, an American grad earns $60K and expects benefits.

Siemans can hire someone on a Visa , pay them a third as much with NO benefits because they are categorically a temporary employee !

More profits and subsequent raises for management for a job well done !

How come US american workers do not see this type of advertisment when looking for jobs? It even said you do not even need to be experienced, what the heck?

the companies used to run apprenticeship programs to train the machinists....
now, they expect you to pay some school to teach you, and well, guess what, they still have to train them afterwards anyways.....

I we are to really have a free market economy then the companies would train (invest in their workers) The first job I had out of collage (1973) was for a manufacture who had three product lines. I was going to be a salesman for that company. Before they would let me out to sell I had to work six months in each of the three product lines, 18 months total doing drafting and working with engineers. I had a degree in psychology at the end of my training I was a pretty good draftsman and designer. When I started selling I really knew the ins and outs of our products and I had a loyalty to the company. It doesn't work that way anymore -- I'm glad I'm old.

I was in the same boat.

They don't do that anymore.

The whole system has been bastardized.

Interesting that with 17 million people and many just college grad companies can claim that they can not find skilled workers in the nation to fill their available positions.

Everyday we get to see and learn what has been done to the working class and tax payer, things are not going to get better, they are going to get worst regardless what the suits working in congress and becoming presidents tell you and promise you.

Big interest is killing our nation while raping whatever they can out of tax payers.

Was your sarcasm on perhaps? Those office jobs are just so pointless to me. I like to make or repair things. Done lot of both in my time working. I'd rather not have to deal with the BS of office working since everything is so p.c.

Office folks make the same or more money and they have nice cozy and quiet jobs sitting on their rears all day long where paper-cuts are their worst injury not constant cuts, metal fragments, and bruised knuckles. Office folks get to play on their PCs all day on Facebook and Myspace, text and play on their office phone and listen to music so WHY the HECK would any youngster want to be in a noisy, filthy, injury-ridden, complex, constant hassle shop all day?? Plus looking at men all day long is a depressing sight. I'll take a better paying office job ANYDAY!!!!

And is it a wonder why the companies get rid of people? If you were sarcastic I wager you agree if not....

If this was the case why are wages for machinist dropping like a rock.

Plus there are three types of machinist. there is one type that is a machinist that can take a print and and machine the part. and knows how to run just about any machine.
Many companies want these guys but few Manufacturing companies will hire these guys as they cost to much.(except aerospace companies)

Then there is the machinist that specialises just one type machine like a lathe or a mill. and mostly companies want guys that have experience on a set brand of machine.
I have seen companies that wanted 10 years experience on a set brand and modal of machine when the machine modal had only been on the market for 6 to 8 years????.

Then there is what they call a machine operator. These guys sometimes are not even machinist. All they know how to do is a put piece of metal in a CNC machine and push a button. the only other thing they understand is how to change cutting tools.
A number of people in this field are illegals hired cheap.
And many companies point out these people as a baseline for machinist in there area even when they are not really machinist.

Any good machinist could find work for himself without having to punch a time clock.
Many of the best machinist i know are now gunsmiths and make 2 to 4 time what they did punching a time clock
for Manufacturing companies.

I even know where many good machinist hide out on the internet and have heard why many do not want work with some/many Manufacturing companies.

the fact is......
ya that nice cushy office job is paying as much, if not more than alot of the machinist jobs are, and well,
the office working isn't bringing heavy metal dust home every night to poison their family with....
or risking having heavy metal blocks fall onto their bodies pemenantly disabling them....
the risk involved in the jobs should be considered as far as wages, but well, it's not....
