This cable talks about how the TALIBAN was willing to put Osama Bin Ladin on trail before 9/11 but the US feared it may exonerate him! It keeps getting better!

I am willing to entertain that idea, but do you have anything to back up such a claim?

Can anyone tell me what this may mean? Does this mean the state department sent out a warning 2 days before 9/11?

HETHER POST SHOULD TEMPORARILY SUSPEND PUBLIC SERVICES; IF A DECISION IS MADE TO DO SO, INFORM THE LOCAL AMERICAN COMMUNITY OF THIS ACTION VIA THE WARDEN NETWORK AND ADVISE DEPARTMENT OF ACTION TAKEN. WARDEN MESSAGE CAN DRAW UPON LANGUAGE AND REFER TO THE DEPARTMENT'S WORLDWIDE CAUTION PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF SEPTEMBER 7, 2001.

WARDEN MESSAGE CAN DRAW UPON LANGUAGE AND REFER TO THE DEPARTMENT'S WORLDWIDE CAUTION PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT OF SEPTEMBER 7, 2001.

Wikileaks

Apparently the announcement was as follows:

Worldwide Caution - Public Announcement
September 7, 2001

Over the last several months, the U.S. Government has learned that U.S.
citizens and interests abroad may be at increased risk of a terrorist action
from extremist groups. In addition, we have received unconfirmed
information that terrorist actions may be taken against U.S. military
facilities and/or establishments frequented by U.S. military personnel in
Korea and Japan. We are also concerned about information we received in May
2001 that American citizens may be the target of a terrorist threat from
extremist groups with links to Usama Bin Ladin's Al-Qaida organization. In
the past, such individuals have not distinguished between official and
civilian targets. As always, we take this information seriously. U.S.
Government facilities worldwide remain at a heightened state of alert.

U.S. citizens are urged to maintain a high level of vigilance and to take
appropriate steps to increase their security awareness to reduce their
vulnerability. Americans should maintain a low profile, vary routes and
times for all required travel, and treat mail and packages from unfamiliar
sources with suspicion. In addition, American citizens are also urged to
avoid contact with any suspicious, unfamiliar objects, and to report the
presence of the objects to local authorities. Vehicles should not be left
unattended, if at all possible, and should be kept locked at all times.
U.S. Government personnel overseas have been advised to take the same
precautions. In addition, U.S. Government facilities have and will continue
to temporarily close or suspend public services as necessary to review their
security posture and ensure its adequacy.

U.S. citizens planning to travel abroad should consult the Department of
State's Public Announcements, Travel Warnings, Consular Information Sheets,
and regional travel brochures, all of which are available at the Consular
Affairs Internet web site at travel.state.gov.... We will continue to
provide updated information should it become available. American citizens
overseas may contact the American Citizens Services unit of the nearest U.S.
Embassy or Consulate by telephone or fax for up-to-date information on
security conditions. In addition, American citizens in need of emergency
assistance should telephone the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate before
visiting the Embassy or Consulate.

Department of State travel information and publications are available at
Internet address: travel.state.gov.... U.S. travelers may hear
recorded information by calling the Department of State in Washington, D.C.
at 202-647-5225 from their touch-tone telephone, or receive information by
automated telefax by dialing 202-647-3000 from their fax machine.

This Public Announcement supersedes the Public Announcement - Worldwide
Caution of June 22, 2001 to inform U.S. citizens of unconfirmed threats
against U.S. military facilities, personnel and establishments frequented by
U.S. military personnel. This Public Announcement expires on December 22,
2001.

It's all a bunch of disinfo to stop the truth from getting out.

I still can't believe there are 'WIkileaks is MOSSAD/CIA' believers.

Fast digging!

So either the US actually had some good evidence of an impending attack, or they were setting up the scapegoat before the attack. Based on a previous cable I referenced to, it may be possible the later is quite possible.

No wonder they didn't like this solution. It says:

!IF THE U.S. OFFERED SUFFICIENT
EVIDENCE AT THE TRIAL, THEN UBL COULD CONCEIVABLY FACE A
SENTENCE BY THE ISLAMIC TRIBUNAL

Lol. They didn't have any evidence.

Exactly!

They didn't even have evidence after the 9/11 attacks to provide the Taliban with evidence so that they could turn him over to US custody! The Taliban was willing to give up OBL, if the US could come up with the proof.....but we never did.

I think we just have to link what we have been told with what we find in these cables. All is not necessarily as it seems.

Like this:

WASHINGTON ANALYSTS WOULD LIKE TO COMMEND POST FOR REF, WHICH PROVIDES DETAILED INFORMATION ON SUDAN'S PROJECTIONS OF FUTURE OIL PRODUCTION IN THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT TEN YEARS. THE ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENT, WHICH BROKE DOWN EXPECTED OIL PRODUCTION BY BLOCK, HELPED INFORM ANALYSTS' JUDGMENTS ABOUT SUDAN'S FUTURE REVENUE PICTURE. REF HAS BEEN CITED IN SEVERAL WRITTEN PRODUCTS ON SUDAN DELIVERED TO HIGH-LEVEL US POLICYMAKERS. ¶2. (S/REL TO USA, FVEY) WE REMAIN INTERESTED IN ANY ONGOING PLANS TO DETERMINE A WEALTH-SHARING AGREEMENT FOR THE POST-2011 PERIOD, GIVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR CONFLICT IF BOTH SIDES DISAGREE. AS TIME AND RESOURCES PERMIT, WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE REPORTING ON ANY PROGRESS BEING MADE IN WEALTH-SHARING NEGOTIATIONS AND ANY CONTINGENCY MEASURES THAT MIGHT BE IN PLACE IN THE EVENT THAT AN AGREEMENT IS NOT REACHED, SUCH AS THE FOLLOWING:

Link

Why would US policymakers have an interest in Sudanese oil?

Wow. That's pretty interesting. 'We remain interested in any ongoing plans to determine a wealth sharing agreement for the POST 2011 PERIOD., and 'the potential for conflict if both sides disagree."

Isn't Sudan on their hit list of countries to invade. I think it is.

Wow. Whatever excuse (humanitarian aid?) they come up iwth, here's proof of the ulterior motive.

Yes, yes. The Taliban were portrayed as such monsters, but in fact had bent over backwards to co-operate with the US.

And, f course, it didn't suit them to have him dealt with straight away either....they wanted him alive and missing so he could be used as the ongoing terrorist threat which would enable them to crack down on domestic freedoms.

Precisely my sentiments. The more I keep digging it is obvious that OBL was setup to be the scapegoat, and our foreign diplomacy is based around corporate or government advantage.

We still have many more cables to go. It will be a long night. But it looks as though we conspiracy "nuts" may have been right! Wikileaks may be a setup, but they are surely providing fuel for the fire!

In this cable it looks as though the US government may have been involved with exporting potential weapons-grade material to CHINA!

Can we say hypocrite?

Well, how about this! American corporations such as GE and Westinghouse hold a special place in American interests in middle east nuclear technology!

The announcement of Saudi French nuclear cooperation would not reduce the value of our own PNP agreement. If the Saudis do decide to build nuclear power plants, they will no doubt build more than one of them. International cooperation in the nuclear power field could well end up divided like that given to the Saudi Navy where the Americans equip and support the Persian Gulf Fleet while the French do the same for the Red Sea Fleet. Moreover the prospects of American firms, such as GE or Westinghouse, bidding on Saudi nuclear power projects would be increased by a PNP agreement. End Comment

Holy poop! The Taliban would have cooperate and handed over OBL if the US provided proof in court? Or proof to them? Wow. That's big news. Good job guys.

That also means there was a civil, open line of communication between our government and Taliban leaders, doesn't it? Why/how else would the Taliban be cooperating in that fashion?

More evidence that the American diplomats (ie. State Department) work for the corporations, paid for by the American public.

Excellent point. And at the same time the Government and their media propaganda machine were lying and saying Taliban were hiding him.....wasn't that why we 'had to invade' Afghanistan, to find him because the monstrous Taliban was hiding him?

All lies. Hundreds of thousands of dead - Afghan civilians and US military - all sacrificed at the altar of the corporate gods, for nothing, absolutely nothing.

That's what this is all boiling down to, IMO.

Cable after cable talks about preserving corporate interests in regions we should be helping build stable economies, not blood-sucking capitalists!
