Conference aims to normalize pedophilia

If a small group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have their way at a conference this week, pedophiles themselves could play a role in removing pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s bible of mental illnesses — the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), set to undergo a significant revision by 2013. Critics warn that their success could lead to the decriminalization of pedophilia.

The August 17 Baltimore conference is sponsored by B4U-ACT, a group of pro-pedophile mental health professionals and sympathetic activists. According to the conference brochure, the event will examine “ways in which minor-attracted persons [pedophiles] can be involved in the DSM 5 revision process” and how the popular perceptions of pedophiles can be reframed to encourage tolerance.

Child advocate Dr. Judith Reisman, a visiting professor at Liberty University’s School of Law, said the conference is part of a strategy to condition people into accepting pedophiles.

“The first thing they do is to get the public to divest from thinking of what the offender does criminally, to thinking of the offender’s emotional state, to think of him as thinking of his emotional state, [and] to empathize and sympathize,” Reisman said. “You don’t change the nation in one fell swoop; you have to change it by conditioning. The aim is to get them [pedophiles] out of prison.”

According to Reisman, empirical data show that pedophiles typically molest many children before finally being caught.

“The data on paroled pedophiles confirms these predators repeat their crimes against children and are known to have escalated them even to murder,” Reisman said.

Stinking scum. If it ends up decriminalizing pedophilia, I think whoever votes for this needs to hang from a tree.

This is just insane. Kids are kids, they don't have the mental capacity to agree to a relation with adults. Pedophilia can't be ever be legal... if it ever does, I'm probably gonna go postal.

guess that will make some religions happy. then they can force the 13 year olds into mairrage here also! sigh i should say i am surprised but i got to say not much has the ability to shock me anymore.

If the DSM claims that it is not an illness or psychological ..Does not mean it is not a crime..Now they will not be able to use this to land in State Hospital or mental institution..but rather with other criminals..in prison.

Depression, anxiety, mental health issues, personality disorders, social reclusiveness and other such issues, let alone the physical damage done to an undeveloped body.

At the end of the day behavour these pedos belive should be allowed because to them they see it as normal, it litterally hurts/harms/scars the child in physical and mental ways.

The law is to protect the community, and thats exactly what it does in this case.

Vitchilo you know as well as I they will not decriminalize pedophilia. It is, and always will be the most reprehensible crime - many don't fare well in the joint I'm told. The study of the criminal mind I suppose is natural direction of science...I guess from over centuries of case studies, they think they found a program to help - it is laughable but I'd hear it out - just to hear what is said and in what context. Then I could really be amazed by the bs they spout. What if, just what if they can find some miracle cure - take out part of the brain - whatever -should we do that to prevent further crime? Why not?

You guys clearly do not understand this. Even if it was ok to be attracted to children, does not mean it will be okay to force anyone. This would only make the difference, (probably at the start anyway) so that if the pedophile had a written contract with the minor that she actually wanted it, and they agreed to it before, with witnesses and video-proof, as well as maybe a documentary explaining her choise, would the pedophile go free. This is all that is needed as the first case, the next case would be easier to get free, until finally a verbal description from the child, saying that it was okay with it would suffice as proof of no crime. Like it is for Gays right now.

Forcing anyone or raping would still be illegal, normal laws would apply. That is not how it is now, even if the child says it was okay with it, it is rape, today.

Understand the difference?

Paedophilia is not considered a mental illness here in the UK and nor should it be....

Deeming it an illness implies a lack of responsibility on the part of the 'sufferer' it should not be listed as a mental illness but treated as a criminal act. I think its right that it be removed from the mental health classifications.

Its a criminal act and a perversion not an illness.

My point is that the child isnt able to decide for him or herself, kids are protected from danergous things by age because of this. You are an adult at 18, and that is the age at which socity says "you are on your own now, do as you please".

A pedophille who never touches a child or never does anything at all to on or near one, they only like the child porn for example, they are still getting off on picutes that are innapropraite and hurtfull to the kids. Anyhting at all which provokes a market for something that harms anyone are just as bad as those doing it. Some one some where is being hurt for their interest, and their interest alone provides the market for it.

It must stop.
stupid # like this will come up from time to time, but ultimatly the community will not put up with it and if the law fails their kids the law has a whole new problem on its hands.
