Maryland teen arrested by FBI in Jihad Jane plot, sources say

www.philly.com

The FBI has secretly arrested a Maryland juvenile who allegedly conspired in a terrorism plot with the Philadelphia-area woman known as Jihad Jane, sources have told The Inquirer.

The boy is 17 but was 15 when he conspired with Colleen LaRose of Pennsburg, Montgomery County, to solicit money and recruits for a jihad, according to documents and sources.

Sheesh. A kid, and if you look at the linky, she's a woman who looks quite "regular".

His family emigrated from Pakistan four years ago, and relatives say the boy - Mohammed K., of Ellicott City, Md. - was headed to Johns Hopkins University on a full scholarship this fall. They also say he was questioned by the FBI, without a parent or lawyer present, at least eight times.

"Now we know that was a mistake," a relative said. "We had thought everything was taken care of and fine because he talked to the FBI so many times - but the next thing you know, a year later, without any warning, the FBI took Mohammed away. It was a shock to us and to him."

We are so distracted by the economic meltdown occurring now that we don't even notice. I don't know about you guys/gals, but this seems like small spuds to me, considering the vile condition of the "world" as we know it.

Yet still, this was a kid, influenced by a grown woman, and who agreed to conspire with her to commit even further attrocities...

Thoughts, ATS?

ETA:

Mohammed's arrest came six months after LaRose, who called herself "Jihad Jane" on websites, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, including providing a U.S. passport, and lying to FBI agents about it. A coconspirator, Jamie Paulin-Ramirez of Leadville, Colo., pleaded guilty to providing material aid to terrorists

If this isn't a story destined for Mondo Bizzaro than I don't know what is...

It goes to show that unhealthy thoughts about your country and government can get out of hand if reason and sense don't reset you every now and then.

You know, boncho, I used to cringe at seeing your responses, but I got over it.....so...can you be a little more explicit and explanatory about your comment??
Cheers, dude (I still hate your avatar)....

ETA: But hating is bad. I take it back. I'm glad you're engaged in the convo.

Considering he's a Pakistani, do ya think it's an attempt to discredit their country further? Seems likely to me. War (jihad?) on the Pakis.....
maybe?

I am sure he is just saying it is all well and good to go online and talk about how bad things are. But if you do not step back and asses your situation now and then, you may find you have been led down a path you may not have intended to follow.

OBKB, thanks! I do think it's weird, especially if you look at "our" site and see that the FBI are also targeting the Chinese....
Just saying. There is so much tension right now in the world. The news says "China got to see the broken chopper cuase Pakistan showed it to them", and then, "China's military is a big threat", and then China says "what?" and then China (or a Chinese person) gets accused of child porn stuff to the tune of 10million users....

Is it conceivable that there is a US propaganda mission afoot that wants to just crucify the Pakis and Chinese so they can start/fuel the next world war?

Him and his family were immigrants but that doesn't mean they weren't a part of society....

Basically, what the other poster pointed out was what I was trying to get across. Misplaced anger serves no one but people who wish to use you.

Prosecutors said LaRose worked obsessively on her computer "to communicate with, recruit, and incite other jihadists." In 2009, she agreed to help try to kill the Swedish artist Lars Vilk, whose 2007 drawing of a dog with the head of the prophet Muhammad offended some Muslims.

Why do muslims seem so eager to kill people over cartoons etc.? Not all muslims but to me it seems a great deal are rather eager to kill anyone that mocks their deity.

Also, I will NEVER trust anyone who dislikes dogs.

Also, you wanna talk dogs look at this gals picture.

I didn't say she looked "normal". I said she looks "regular." Big Diff.
There are psychos all around us....it's a pretty "regular" occurrence...

you are right. I agree she does look psychotic.

What are you talking about?
The thread was started in an effort to deconstruct the "secret" arrest of a Pakistani teen who had been intereviewed earlier, this Jihad Jane's blatant terrorist recruiting, aiding and assistance, and the current tensions between the Pakistan government and the US government over the "Bid Laden Show".

It seems to me a separate topic from "racism" and "intolerance."

I just wondered if it made anyone else wonder about the real "motives"...and the real "players"...behind this.

Hear, hear!
I prefer dogs over most humans anyway. They're more humane, unless they've been trained to be monsters by monsters.

After reading this....it just makes me wonder how many other (traitors) do we have in the U.S......and this proves my point.....I have been telling many of my friends and neighbors to watch out for all the infiltration of our enemies.

I am sure (as probably most of you are)...that a lot of this is going on...in every state of the U.S.

As the nation(US) fails it's own people, and crumbles more and more, with the economic collapse, people losing their jobs, homes, and the morals, values, standards of society falling, if it can fall anymore, as it's basically non-existant now, I am suprised more people are not joining Al-Qaeda, because they simply have nothing to lose, and the government has made itself at odds with the people. There is no more security, safety, or future.

having takin and Aced a terrorism class I know that the jihadists will recruit ANYONE they do not discriminate, if you share even 1 thought that somewhat matches theirs they are going to latch on and do anything that they can to pull you in and brainwash you recruit you for their "cause" really all they are looking for is youngsters who are willing to blow themselves up to further their "mission" agianst the westerners. I dont believe that the young mans actions were due to an attraction to Larose as much as an attraction to her "cause". one of the main missions of Jihadists besides blowing things up and attacking the enemy is recruitment of younger persons to be sacraficial lambs so to speak to their mission.

Seeing as how the young man was an imigrant to the United States from Pakistan it is quite possible that he had previous instruction on Jihad in his pakastani schooling so his actions could possibly have been "going back to his roots" in a manner of speaking.

Whoa. What? You aced a terrorist class? Well well, we'd like to hear more from you. Did you decide you didn't want to do it? (Like me, aced a masters degree and then said..."naaah, I don't wanna do this" once I got an inside view.)

Where was your class? Who was in charge?
But then again, US military basic training is kinda like terrorist class too, isn't it? But they tell the recruits the cause is noble.

Mr. Radeon could you be a little more respectful towards religions? I understand you're hatred of it, we all went through that stage. Instead of trolling and saying inflammatory remarks how about being constructive and pragmatic? That approach will get you a lot farther in your arguments than hateful remarks.

OT: As for the topic at hand, I'm curious as to what turned her to hating Americans? Was it the religion itself or the pervasion of it?
