No, it's unlikely it will become naked eye visible. Which is a shame as it's a few years since we had a decent visible comet.

www.stellarium.org...

download that...

Put the data into the data file and find it yourself..

I do not know your position you also have to enter that. It will show you the comet's posittion any time from anywhere.

Only you can determine if you can see it or not.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to see here other than somebody filming some sort of lights. It could be light behind them reflecting off a window as they look at the sky or on their monitor while they have a starfield image or simulator up. It's obviously not something he went out and just pointed his camera at the sky.

His other videos all look similar and appear to be something he filmed on his monitor or TV due to pixelation.

Is there a reason you would be more apt to believe some random guy who has to use a crappy handheld camera to film their monitor instead of using fraps than all the clear evidence that shows it's nothing to worry about?

Even if this is real footage that he, for some reason, had to film it from his TV/monitor using his phone, you can't even see enough to tell what it or hardly anything else in the images are.

Here is a little rundown on Elenin by an astronomer in his blog.

October is the northern hemisphere date.

It's some stoner pressing his video camera against a red glass paperweight and going "Wow! Check it out!"

Good rule of thumb...if it's on YouTube and you get a gut feeling it might be fake (or just a lie), it's pretty much a safe bet that it is.

At first glance on the video you linked, I had thought it looked more like someone filming the sky in their car as they drove down the street, with the big bright lights that seem to move with the camera being lights behind him reflecting off the glass. Truthfully it's pretty hard to tell and he doesn't give much info. Then I saw his other videos where he's obviously filming his TV or monitor that look almost the same.

Perhaps if he listed what instrument's video or simulation this was taken from, included information as to the frame of reference and what exactly is what, then it might be worth more study...but I agree with DJW's assessment here (LOL btw)

Thanks for the Stellarium data, JennaDarling - They updated what I had. One suggestion for ease-of-use: Change the second line from "C/2010 X1 (Elenin)" to just "Elenin" (or "Comet Elenin"). This makes it easier to find when you use the F3 search feature.

I add objects so often that I keep a shortcut to the stellarium/data/system.ini file on my desktop.

I second Jenna's recommendation for Stellarium. It's free, it's easy to use and fun to play with Your kids will like it, too. I find it useful for figuring-out where faint objects are before I start searching with my 'scope or binoculars. You'll need this skill to find Elenin. Being an average comet, it's damnably faint and you'll definitely need a dark sky, 'scope or bino's. It won't be in the night sky until 2nd week in October, when it will be in the pre-dawn morning sky.

So for all of your red paper and lights on the glass believers...

What is the difference of this video which was posted on Mr. Elenin's page and the one I posted in the OP?!

spaceobs.org...

This just shows that some of you have to be some disinfo agents...If someone will film a real UFO landing with little green people on the ground ... you will say that he filmed some sperm jerk on the green paper behind the 2 inch glass....

Nibiru is (supposedly) coming from the other direction

Maybe they will collide in a huge galactic-level firework show, and we will have front-row seats.
How's that for luck

Hmmm... "hey everyone look this way at elenin!" *as nibiru is casually making it's way in unnoticed*

Other than the salsa music? And it being slowed way, way, down? And someone going "Wow! Cool! That's great footage!" and a complete lack of context? Here is what was really posted on the SpaceObs site. It is nothing like what you posted:

Agree about the music

But don't agree about the video...try watching both side by side and you will se that it is the same event....yust more zoom added and maybe slightly different timeline....
Also you can hear mouse clicks when the video showing only steps one at the time...why do you still think he is filming a red paper with some silly dots?

I don't. Now I know that he took some STEREO footage and deliberately altered it to suit his agenda. Context is important.
