Felt in D.C., NY, North Carolina and Ohio per CNN

Whoa okay whats going on?? I just looked at the "Recent Posts" page and 5 of the top 7 threads are reports of earthquakes from all over and there seems to be lots of reports in this thread as well..

i just felt it too in bklyn, ny

my husband says theres alot of ppl in manhattan standing outside saying the buildings shook, he thought i was crazy when i called him crying, this makes me so nervous im shaking right now

I am in queens NY and I felt it.. I thought i was going nuts for a second..

that's the thing with east coast quakes ... everything is pretty much bedrock ... so they're felt much farther away

a 5.8 here would feel akin to a much larger one in more sandy/loamy-based regions.

I was on the road at the time and felt/noticed nothing .... but once I got home our son came out asking,
So ... What was that shaking the house?

Felt it in northeast Ohio near Youngstown. Chair and filing cabinets were wobbling slightly. Asked a co-worker said he thought it was just him!

I also felt it minutes ago I live in PA anyone know where it originated from?

Felt in central N.C.
First earthquake I've ever felt in my entire 24 years on this earth. Neat.

How dare this earthquake interrupt my studies though! Blast!
