question for the masons? Where does the masonic word IAOM pronounced ee ahh ohm fit in ? is this word a syncretism of Iao and Aum ? or is this word to secretive for your discussion? Is there a fear of study of this word possibly pidgeonholing masons as pagans ?

Never heard of this word before. I was certainly never taught anything of the sort when I was initiated. I have even looked through my Masonic library and can find nothing.

Please could you tell me as to the source of your information and I will try to help you.

That was a word exposed in Richardson's Monitor of Freemasonry in 1860, I believe. It's not used today in my state at least. Possible someone else still uses it. The grips and passwords do vary from state to state and have changed over the centuries for one reason or another.

Edit to add, it's possible it was never used at all... Richardson was an anti-Mason, so it's quite possible a fair amount of his "monitor" is made up. (maybe he wasn't) I'm just now starting to skim it, as I'd never heard of it before tonight. An online copy is at UMich if you do a google search…

I beg to differ - gravity is a product of mass - photons of light have mass and therefore cause gravity...

Without mass, there is no gravity.

I cannon fathom anything before light from a physics point of view (but then, I'm a chemist, not a physicist, so someone else may shed even more light on the matter than me...

The graviton is the force carrier for gravity as the photon is massless.

Light was not imediately observable at the creation of the universe as photons were unable to form until sometime after.

The maths are a bit above my level by I appreciate the theoretical aspects of the paper.

The photon, if it even has a mass, has been found to be at its heavist 3x10−17 eV. Not that they are saying it has mass, but that its upper limit is know to be below that precise calculation, 3 times 10 to the 17th less than the weight of an electron. This is the extent of our experimental ability to test but as each test gets more precise the upper limit continues to get samller as it approaches being completely without mass.

have studied the old testament and i would have to agree with some fraternity fellows i have discussed with that the verbage sounds almost as if light was being "suppressed" and now " let there be light" i realize that translating bere# into the english genesis from ancient hebrew to greek some original meaning will be lost but to me genesis sounds like one of the elohim telling another to " let it be" color me perplexed
