I hope this is the right forum. As this isn't a conspiracy, I thought it belonged here. I also did a search and if it's already been posted as a topic, feel free to delete the post.

I have read on some of the threads about Norway "Why aren't the (moderate) Christians condemning this act?" Because that's what a lot of us ask when an Islamic fundamentalist commits an act of murder.
The truth is the Christians are, but it's not making headline news. You get more ratings by making people angry and focusing on the negative.

I found this via Yahoo, from an AP news feed. I mentioned it in another thread, but felt it needed to have its own.

Source: Churches leader calls Norway rampage "blasphemous'

GENEVA (AP) — The head of the world's largest ecumenical group accused Norwegian gunman Anders Behring Breivik of blasphemy Monday for citing Christianity as a justification in his murderous attack on government buildings and a youth camp that left dozens dead.

He also says something I think is very important (emphasis mine)

Tveit, a pastor in Norway's Lutheran Church, said religious leaders had noticed an increase in extremist ideologies being discussed on the Web.....

But the bomb attack in the capital Oslo and the shooting at a Socialist youth camp on Utoya island were a wake-up call for churches that they need to prevent their faith being used as justification for violence, he said in a telephone interview from Norway.

"We as Christians need to be aware of this, how our faith and our religion can be abused," he said. "This event shows how important it is that we continue this work more than ever."

I am glad he's taking a proactive approach. I hope it catches on in other areas.

Just my 2 words. As a foreigner in Norway, coming from a country in which an event like this, would have caused immediate hatred and retaliation, I haven't seen any of that where I stay. Instead the people all talk about more democracy, reconciliation, etc. This is something I have believed for in my whole life, and something that I would never thought I would see. So, in the aftermath of the bombing and the massacre on Utuøya, instead of hearing hate speeches, I hear wonderful music, and people all around me speak of reconciliation, not hatred. People are sad and shocked, but I have yet to hear a single word of hate-speech. Makes me realize just how wonderful the vast majority of the Norwegian people actually are.

That and like any educated people, they understand that giving in to feer and hate and throwing their economy towards "defense" and "security" is, in fact, precisely what terrorists are demanding.

So instead Norway looks the bastards right in the eye and says, "No, you don't get to win."
