Indeed. It does seem like hypocrisy.

Perhaps he'll claim it was for the greater good. Perhaps he saw that the Muslim gained their political pressure through acts of violence and scaring people into political submission, perhaps he wanted to do the same; he did direct the violence at political camps that he thought was at fault.

I'm not justifying his violence, only suggesting what is motive was, some sort of "the few, save the many" theory that he thought might work.

This isn't on the front page of any news site, but here you go.

Churches leader calls Norway rampage 'blasphemous'

GENEVA (AP) — The head of the world's largest ecumenical group accused Norwegian gunman Anders Behring Breivik of blasphemy Monday for citing Christianity as a justification in his murderous attack on government buildings and a youth camp that left dozens dead. In an online manifesto published shortly before Friday's attack, Breivik styled himself a Christian conservative fighting against Marxist conspiracies and the perceived Muslim colonization of Europe. "It's important to say to all Muslims wherever they are, in Europe or elsewhere in the world, that these actions in no way can express what is our Christian faith and our Christian values," Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit told The Associated Press. "It is blasphemous to make that kind of connection."

Tveit, a pastor in Norway's Lutheran Church, said religious leaders had noticed an increase in extremist ideologies being discussed on the Web. But the bomb attack in the capital Oslo and the shooting at a Socialist youth camp on Utoya island were a wake-up call for churches that they need to prevent their faith being used as justification for violence, he said in a telephone interview from Norway. "We as Christians need to be aware of this, how our faith and our religion can be abused," he said. "This event shows how important it is that we continue this work more than ever."

That's good to see.

Would be refreshing if more "moderate" Muslims condemned the atrocious acts of Islamic extremist groups too.

Be brilliant if the Theologians within the Muslim Brotherhood condmened suicide bombers, and attacks on civilians. Unfortunately they don't. And often they justify these acts:-

The Muslim Brotherhood’s most influential theologian, Sheikh Yousef al Qaradawi, has repeatedly justified suicide bombings, called on Muslims to support the insurgency against American forces in Iraq, and justified the killing of civilians. “The martyrdom operations carried out by the Palestinian factions to resist the Zionist occupation are not in any way included in the framework of prohibited terrorism, even if the victims include some civilians," Qaradawi said in 2003, according to MEMRI. “Those who oppose martyrdom operations and claim that they are suicide are making a great mistake,” Qaradawi added.

Of course he will. He's found a way to work this out so that everything he did was for the better and all of it was okay with God. And he's got his stated enemies listed as the ones that forced his hand. He's a run-of-the-mill terrorist.

He's a run-of-the-mill terrorist.

I disagree, I don't think he's the run-of-the-mill terrorist at all. I think he's unique.
