BREAKING: Blast in Oslo hits offices, government buildings

Update at 10:45 a.m. ET: A witness, Ole Tommy Pedersen, tells the AP that the blast shattered almost all the windows in a multistory highrise, sending a cloud of smok billowing from the lower floors.

"I saw three or four injured people being carried out of the building a few minutes later," Pedersen says.

The AP also reports that a Norwegian prosecutor filed terror charges this week against an Iraqi-born cleric for threatening Norwegian politicians with death if he is deported from the country. The indictment centered on statements that Mullah Krekar — the founder of the Kurdish Islamist group Ansar al-Islam — made to various media, including the American network NBC.

Update at 9:52 a.m. ET:The Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten quotes witnesses as saying Oslo's Market Street is "full of chaos" with people "running around bewildered," some with blood on their faces and hands. "You can smell the sulfur fumes," the newspaper's reporter says.

Update at 9:44 a.m. ET: The Associated Press reports that an explosion has damaged buildings in downtown Oslo; offices are being evacuated.

Strange because usually Scandavian countries are usually used as neutral grounds with neutral intermediatories.

They are good at that.

However if they are assisting in a war effort, well that is part and parcel of war efforts. You cannot honestly expect it to be one sided.

They were hit because of their warmonger ways.

I know it may be premature, but Norway does have an Islam problem.

It's a dreadful situation, my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Oslo.

Yes they do because they have obligations under law and moral and also do take in a lot of people that need help.

I find it very unfortunate that those people do not appreciate that help (Yes I understand they are a minority) and ruin it for the rest that do.

Scandavians are very open minded and caring, but they are now getting abused in return. Very sad state of affairs.

It is a shame, I've been to Norway, very good people, they certainly dont deserve this. Not that anyone does, but the Norwegians have been so open and generous to its immigrant community.

They just reported a second explosion on cnn.

I was out walking when the bomb went off, I didn't see it, I didn't hear it. but i sure felt it, even when i listened to music. something was up. then i got home to discover what happen... holy #
