The remaining operational rover named Opportunity is under a mile from it's biggest target yet. (other than Mars itself).
The Still well functioning rover has just past it's 20 mile mark, and other than a few minor mechanical issues, it's about to see over the edge.

The Edge, is the rim a very large crater named Endeavour.
Large by Rover standards, at least.

This image below shows the path taken to get to the big one. And the relative sizes of the previous stops at craters along the way.

What will we see when we first park on the edge?
And will we find a route down into that big hole?

A 14 mile diameter crater?! Wow! I really hope that it makes it to the edge because I would love to see shots into that pit! Amazing little rover, huh? Originally, a 3 month mission that has turned into years of exploration. Pretty cool!

I love those little machines.
Spirit is done...But Opportunity keeps on knocking!

the Biggest hope for me, is to see more varied geology. A crater this large should have many other layers exposed.
On the other hand..The homogeneous territory of Opportunity is probably why it's still alive after all these years.

Pretty exciting!
