Thanks for the links to this great video.

A question for the astronomically educated among us. I remember after news of Elenin first hit MSM several comments about the earth's trajectory through the comet's tail being of much more "believable" issue/concern than all the Nibiru/Dwarf Sun conjecture. Is there a way to measure the extent of, and potential consequences, of the earth's passing through the tail?

So its still looking like an ordinary comet.
Kinda faint, some may even say "wimpy".

Passing through the tail does almost nothing.
We have passed before through other debris fields.
Watch for the galactic cloud approaching and influencing our solar system.

One way would be to see what happened on previous occasions that the earth passed through a comets tail.
Example, Halleys comet in May 1910.
Nothing happened, despite the fear laden predictions of doomsdayers.

You mean effects, not consequences. The tail may have an effect on increased Northern Lights activity, and possible shooting stars, (Aurora Borealis, meteor showers). Other than that, nothing.

I wonder, since we now can get (relitively) clear pictures, if we could get a time lapse video. Because I still see little dots around it. And a time lapse would either shut up or fuel the fires of the ones saying this thing has some celestial partners coming with it. hmmmmmmmmmm....

Posted on another website (www.2012hoax.org...)

The Earth will not pass through Elenin’s Tail

“A common misconception of comets is that the tail streams out behind the comet. Even if that were the case, the images and video above show that we would not pass through the tail. However, the tail of a comet does not stream out behind the comet’s path, but rather points away from the sun. As such, the tail will never be in a position to cross the path of the earth.

“Even if the earth were to pass through the tail of the comet, the only effect on the earth would be a nice show of meteors. Perseid meteor shower occurs every year between August 9 and 13 when the Earth passes thru the orbit of Comet Swift-Tuttle. Comet Halley is the source of the Orionid shower in October.

Looks very bright ..

I only reduced little luminosity from original picture, some 10 % ..

Thanks for the info - love your moniker graphic, by the way! Haven't come up with one I like enough, yet.

And FYI, I really did mean "potential consequences" but that was, in retrospect, skipping the step of looking at potential effects first. Thanks again for the info!

Just a thought - has anyone thought about what will happen to Elenin as it gets increasingly closer to our sun? And how it will react with the sun? I have been searching for a chemical composition of Elenin, and have only found articles that speculate what it is. Some think it is iron, some think it is just dust and ice, others talk about it having to be made up of something more than a typical comet because of it's direct involvement with our earthquakes during alignments with other celestial bodies. And then, during my search I also found this article:
Will Elenin cause major earthquakes as it approaches earth?

It speaks of plasma discharges:

when comets travel close to the sun, plasma discharges (aka Coronal Mass Ejections) have been observed to occur. Most astronomers are puzzled by such events which they currently regard as mere coincidence. For supporters of plasma cosmology, however, the sun’s behavior when comet’s approach is evidence of the plasma discharge that regularly occurs when two charged celestial bodies approach each other.

Overall it is a very interesting article by Michael E. Salla, Ph.D

If it is just ice and dust, then the size and weight will change....which could throw off it's trajectory. In a lot of my research, it's been said that Elenin doesn't have an orbital path we can 100% predict. Over and over we hear it is giving us new surprises. Yes... .23au is a nice distance from earth - but it's a hairswidth when you can't accurately predict the path of something that no one can agree on size and chemical makeup.
So - what do you think?

Every year we have the Leonid Meteor Shower. This is produced by the tail of Comet Tempel-Tuttle. Even though Tempel-Tuttle has a periodicity of about 30 years its tail is so dense we still get a meteor shower every year. In fact scientists believe that the majority of the debris from the 2009 Leonid Meteor Shower came from Tempel-Tuttle's passes in the 15th and 16th centuries. This debris has never caused any damage.

Like they playing with us, all eyes are open for this comet last 1/2 year ..

They can calm down all out suspicions with one picture or some clear evidence but nothing happening

Maybe they prepare us for some bigger similar event .. lol

So mach extra technology or scientists what we pay for this work end we don't have one clear picture ..

Cheers bro00 ..
