Top police chief resigns over phone hacking!

uk.reuters.com

Senior police chief Paul Stephenson, London's police commissioner, resigned on Sunday over allegations about the police's handling of phone hacking investigations.

In a statement he read to TV news channels, Stephenson said he had no knowledge of the extent of phone hacking allegations at the now defunct News of the World, owned by News International, part of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp media empire.

This just gets bigger and bigger.
All the beating around the bush and turned cheeks.
The first thing that popped into my mind when I started reading this story? Dude probably got bribed to resign.

Then almost straight away whether true or not;

Police have been criticised over allegations of accepting money from News of the World and other newspapers and of not doing enough to investigate phone hacking allegations.

My bet is that Murdoch never gets any real punishment.
Just a chunk out of his fat wallet.

He wouldn't really feel a HUGE chunk go out of his wallet.
This does keep getting bigger and bigger - what did police chief think he was accomplishing by resigning?
It looks like if he were innocent he'd jump on the ball and start investigating his underlings, not resign.

No doubt there'll be splutterings in the Masonic lodge later at the next meeting.
