I am really getting tired of these knee-jerk reactions turning into laws.

If I am not mistaken all these laws were written because of dead white children.

Caylee's Law Petition

Kyleigh's Law

Amber Alert

Megan's Law

Adam Walsh Act

Jessica's Law

Dru's Law

This is not even all of them. Some are great and others not so great.

No elected official is going to oppose a law written after a dead child.

Do we need a law saying you have to report a dead child?

What if a child dies in the middle of the night?

Is it then up to a prosecutor to decide if you waited to long?

Although some of these laws seems to fill loop holes.

Others seem drafted just to make people feel better.

Caylee's law would not have saved her.

This is bad policy. We don't need more laws based on emotion.

Also, It does strike me every law of this kind. Was written for a white child.

I guess nothing terrible happens to non-whites.

I can't comment on the other laws being made, but as far as I know, Caylee's law is just requiring parents to report their missing kid to police within 24 hours or notifying police within 12 hours of a body being found. Those don't sound very bad to me.

but any decent parent will do that any way. The parents who have some thing to hide won't call the cops anyway so whats the point?

I thought I read that Megan's Law helped inspire the Amber Alert.

I guess that's wrong. It was named after a child from Texas.

Caylee's Law has a real constitutional problem, the Fifth Amendment. Come on you ambulance chasing pinhead politicians. Do you think you could pass a law that requires you to report shooting someone so that if the murder rap fails they could lock you up for not reporting the murder? Of course not. I feel bad for Caylee. But it would be a sad day if such a law were imposed and survived Supreme Court scrutiny.

This law would not of saved Caylee.

The prosecution dropped the ball by over charging.

I just don't think we need any new laws.

I certainly mean no disrespect to this child.

My point is. Making laws on emotion is bad policy.

Your just wrong.

This new law has nothing to do with neglect.

Parents who just lost a child, need a time clock?

100% of all other parents in Florida reported their child drowning.
