15 Examples That Show Many Americans Have Become So Desperate That They Will Do Just About Anything For Money

#2 The Huffington Post is reporting that there has been an epidemic of air conditioning thefts all over the United States....

Across the country, in states like Illinois, Texas, Arizona, Georgia and Florida, there have been reports of thieves stealing unsecured air conditioning units weighing as much as 125 pounds.

#3 In Corpus Christi, Texas thieves have actually been breaking into funeral homes in order to steal the embalming fluid.

#5 Nothing is off limits to thieves these days. Criminals recently broke into a southwest Atlanta beauty supply store and took off with $30,000 in hair extensions.

#7 One grandmother in Florida has been accused of trying to sell her newborn grandson for $75,000.

#8 In Antioch, California a total of approximately 300 power poles were recently knocked down by thieves and stripped of their copper wiring.

#10 In Asheville, North Carolina thieves recently took off with 4 metal tables and 16 metal chairs that were sitting outside a pizzeria.

#11 In Florida, thieves have actually been stealing storm drain covers.

#13 In the Cleveland area, two young boys that had set up a lemonade standwere robbed in broad daylight. The crooks got away with approximately 12 dollars.

#14 In Oklahoma, thieves recently broke into a church and stole "arts and crafts supplies meant to help teach bible stories to children".

And this is just the beginning.

When Americans are REALLY desperate for money, they'll start rioting, do flash mobs, start shooting politicians.

During the Wiemar republic hyperinflation, hundreds of politicians were murdered. Wouldn't surprise me if it happens in the US once it really hits.

I'll either panhandle or bend over. I'm a genius, easily annoyed and I have nothing to lose. I won't hurt anybody but myself, now I am a true American.

I'm basically Rose Tyler, no job, no school other then homeschooling and no money. What do I have to lose ? For me, it'll only get worse. Nobody in the world wants to be bothered with me. So.Nothing. To. Lose.

I won't rob or kill you, you'll probably do that to me first. I'm a minority the cops won't look for me, no worries.
When you have nothing to lose you don't sweat the small stuff

These types of thefts have been happening forever. I'm not sure there's any indication of it on the rise? Are there any numbers for petty theft going up?

People will steal anything. And I remember hearing about copper thefts as many as ten years ago. Anytime the price of copper goes up, theft of copper goes up.

Those who can, will. It is almost inevitable in times of trouble. How about the parent network that occurs when a baby is born? From then on out, handmedowns, advice, and others to lean on are available through the experiences of parenthood, and I think it will be the same if we take a few chances and get involved with people around us.

Great minds do think alike, and find each other.

Heartisblack, I really feel for you with that assessment of things. You are young, though, and it is far from written in stone that you are all the things you see or feel about yourself now.

Often, our disadvantages become incredible strengths as we mature. Your presence on this site shows that you are on your way.

I see promise.

I keep trying to tell myself that...but i don't think it's gonna happen....simply because people are too full of themselves to care about anyone else...or anything else. The only thing they care about is: keeping that car they can't afford, house they can't afford (that has depreciated in value); the newest i-phone or blackberry with ridiculous monthly rates. Oh, can't forget about facebook...they gotta have a place to front and perpetrate. Let's see, what else will keep that "someday...someday" from happening??? Oh yes, people are too full of themselves to care about anyone else...or anything else. Oops, i already said that.

I hear that there are lots of fancy, expensive things
in something called gated communities.

When things get really bad, they will not be safe.
I would not want to be in the top 5%, when 95% are hungry

All the while, even members of ATS blame all this on capitalism despite that the last few decades have been a very clear-cut rise of fascism and socialism. I don't know why people want to call it "corporatism". Its very clearly fascism... the power of corporation over the law and is fascism. The rise of the welfare state is a form of socialism. As for the rise of the military and police state, its a natural consequence of an increase in fascism. And like a sick joke people point at "excessively free markets" though there has been no significant decrease in marketplace regulations. As a matter of fact, the marketplace has become more regulated over the past few decades in the US.

Meanwhile, the marketplace is less regulated now in China, where there economy is in ways more free than the US economy. In other ways, less free. But none the less their dramatically less enslaved economy (compared to China in the past) has resulted in a very long boom-time. But people just ignore all the facts, statistics, and real-life stories and just blame what the media tells them to blame.

Japan's economy went to forced free-trade overnight after the end of WWII. I suppose those Japanese must have all lost their jobs to the overseas markets. Oh wait... no come to think of it they went on to become the richest nation in the world second to the US within about three decades from that point. But again, lets all ignore the success stories and focus on what the media tells us that "capitalism has failed" and thats why the economy is going to hell at the moment.

None of this is new they steal anything for a dime they would rather do that than work.A local farmer watched 2 guys work for over 8 hours cutting up old farm equipment and loading it into his trailer. When they came back later with a big 4x4 truck he had taken the wheels off the trailer and sat it on blocks on their way out they missed the bridge and drove into the creek then abondond the truck. He drug the truck out and took it to the shop and cut it to pieces and took it to the salvage yard. He had a friend run the plates and they were for a different vehicle so the truck was probably stolen too

*****************************************************************************************************************************

It makes one wonder.. with all the current and former military personel and vets in USA... why oh why and (when? if? ) will politicians be snipered by milita groups? homes burned? or the govt crooks taken out... is it my imagination.. or when big meeting are held.. dont the limos carrying the "top" political crooks drive underground?

seems like during the next big political event a hotel clerk, maid or security guard could be bribed to let in a few........ oh well maybe it was just a happy dream... WAKE UP PEOPLE. MAYBE SOMEONE SHOULD SEND THE CROOKS TO A BETTER PLACE??? HHMMM?

Here is an article from a local paper about someone stealing urns from a cemetery for cash.

greenevillesun.com...

Thieves aren't picky about their victims.

A rash of recent thefts of bronze memorial vases from GreeneLawn Memory Gardens proves the point.

A follow up of the story is that the man was caught and sold each urn for $3.00 a piece if I am not mistaken.

Seriously sad times indeed.

I think you can thank the CIA and the DEA for the rash of thievery thats skyrocketed.
Their corruption and greed for drug money has caused an unprecedented number of both young and old to become hopeless adicts who wander the streets much like the zombies in the horror flics......
(sometimes i wonder if the zombie craze is a natural reaction to the adiction level.)
You see these skinny dirty and bedraaggled people everywhere these days....
The bucycle has become the getawaay vehicle of today as they can steaal them easily, and they cost nothing to ride.
The theft of stuff thats easily packed away on a bike is too common.
Its the tremendous loads that you see from time to time that are indicative of their industry.
Now that base metals are so high, there is no limit to the imaginative thefts.
Houses in mortgage forclosure stripped of plumbing a wiring overnight!Walls torn out, floors torn up etc.
They will steal the eaves troughs right off yer house if they are the old copper ones.
I expect theyll be sawing the easy parts off statues for the bronz soon.

To paraphrase Reagan...
The difference between a recession and a depression is simple. When your neighbor's air conditioning unit, pipes, and wiring is stolen by theives for scrap value, it is a recession. When your own air conditioning unit, pipes, and wiring is stolen by theives for scrap value, it is a depression.
