Now Senator Lautenberg is calling for the Department of Justice and Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate News Corp. for violation of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977. Should an investigation be launched that alone could damage News Corps reputation as a source of news. In the event that they are found guilty of violating the FCPA then it could easily be big trouble for Rupert Murdoch.

News Corporation is the second largest media conglomerate in the world as of 2010.

This wont go anywhere near that far. They might be fined but thats it. Never would they shut down a company that employs as many people and plays such a pivotal role in pushing a predetermined agenda.

Fox news is the only "evil" part of this company in the states, the rest of it just makes garbage movies or trashy tv shows, which theres nothing wrong with.

One of the things that dismayed me when Murdoch wanted to start buying up huge chunks of the American media was the way he got a fast track citizenship to sidestep the rule on foreign ownership. Private Eye in the UK calls him the Dirty Digger (Digger Australian slang for soldier), and has done for some years. Perhaps it gives it a whole new meaning now.
On a more ominous note he owns the Times which accepted wisdom states sets the editorial tone for all other editorials in the UK media. We also know that the PM's media advisor is very closely linked.
