The Last Palestinian Village to be Razed.

This village sits on the outskirts of Jerusalem. Its name is Lifta and it will soon be forgotten. The 55 houses still standing will be buldozed to dust and new homes built for wealthy Israelis. Lifta joins the more then 400 villages destroyed after 1948 displacing more then 700000 Palestinians. It is interresting to note that a CONDITION of Israeli membership in the UN was for Israel to allow the Palestinians to return to their land and homes at the earliest possible time. Israel AGREED to this in writing and began to ignore their pledge before the ink was dry.

Always wondered why it's considered their land? When it was formed did God put "reserved for Palestinians" on it? That land was here long before people and will be here long after people are gone.

It belongs to no one but the people that are strong enough to occupy it. Same with America. It's not our land and if another nation want's to come and take it we will fight and win or lose and the land will go to the victor.

This whole the land belongs to this group is silly. Where would the Jews go if you gave all the land to the Palestinians? Where is the Jews original land? Why aren't they there instead of in Palestine?

It's against international law to take land by force. The UN should tell Israel move back to the 48 borders or we will bomb you back to them. Violence seems to be the only thing terrorist understand then so be it.

Yes but I was making a point which apparantly I failed at

I think mother earth would have an issue with the Palestinians or the Jews saying it was their land. She might just throw up a volcano smack dab in the middle and make them all get out.

One can sit and debate middle eastern issues all day long and not get anywhere, and this is how most threads relating to the holy land play out on ATS, neither side convincing the other of anything and only furthering the divide in the process.

One thing i personally keep coming back to is, what is so special to the current position of the dome of the rock? What is so special about this rock?

Why were Herods temple then Solomons temple, then the dome of the rock built on this location? There exist plans already for a rebuilding of Solomons temple in this precise location even before the dome has been leveled.

Why wasnt islams intended holiest of shrines built in its own holy land, Mecca and not on top of the ruined Solomons temple?

They can go to the thousand other Islamic countries in the middle east, so good riddance! Long live Israel!!

So, in effect, the Palestinians and Palestine are being "wiped off the map"!

But wait, isn't that why Israel wants the rest of the world to attack Iran? Because their leader was mistranslated as saying he wanted Israel wiped off the map?

Slowly but surely, all trace of Palestinian towns and villages are being removed to make way for Israeli settlers, people who have no ethnic, legal or moral claim to any of that land, and who use state sponsored terrorism to oppress the people already there and force them out. Isn't this what the United Nations is there for, to protect vulnerable people from oppression and ethnic cleansing?

We just have to accept that, under our current leaders, this will continue as our own governments are Israeli occupied territory as well. Not until we remove our own cowardly leaders will we see any repercussions against Israel for it's blatant flouting of international law and state sanctioned terrorism and murder.

I think you meant "reserved for Jews" because the Jews are the only ones with a 'holy' claim to the land. . .

You do know the Jews were scattered off that land but kept their identity as a people for almost two thousand years and reclaimed their land as a people in 1948. Oh and by the way it is compelling to me that the bible spoke of how this would happen and it also speaks of how this would be a thorn in the side of all nations. The bible also tells us that Israel will ne er be moved from their inheritance again , so let the arabs keep trying to destroy Israel . The next war over there will be very costly for the Arab nations that attempt this displacement of the Jews . Damascus will be completely destroyed never to be a city again five out of every six attackers will be killed according to prophecy.

It wasn't built as a holy place, just became one after the Night Ascension (Israa) of the Prophet Muhammad.

Prayers were directed to this mosque before they were directed to Makkah.

According to Islam, all land belongs to God. Most Muslims, and even the newly converted ones know that its not a matter of land but a matter of tyranny of poor peoples.

Israel has an army, a country and all sorts of things that Palestinians barely have.

This is why people like me, who are Muslim but not Arab, get offended by Israeli governments actions because they have the upperhand and should show mercy instead of spite towards the poor people of Palestine.

Otherwise the Muslims do not have any issues with Jews in general.

people really need to get out of the fiction section in the library and just talk facts..

Oh and BTW, many many Israelis are in NO WAY genetically linked to the original inhabitants of that land..
