Earlier this month, Chinese residents saw a city rise from a river: a wonderful mirage!

Eh... The tittle says it all, pretty much...

It is reported to be a mirage, but it is an incredible one! I had never seen something like this, for sure.

Is it the same phenomenon that makes the scientists say some UFOs are in fact reflection of distant planetary body?

A mirage is a naturally occurring phenomenon that happens because light travels on the fastest possible route instead of going in a straight line. The rays bend around denser, colder sections of air to show the image of a distant object.

So... Light doesn't travel by the fastest road when going in a straight line? How's that possible?
