I sell to restaurants. many of them are at least 60 days behind in bills. it's kinda silly to believe this could happen in a week, don't ya think ?

So he was an indirect beneficiary of the bailout money and he was forced to close? I wonder how many other's like this have also closed.

At a second glance it's not as bad as it seems; although I don't know what it means to be an "indirect" beneficiary. Who's to say that the restaurant wouldn't have closed way earlier if it hadn't been for the bailout. It's unfortunate the owner waited until after the visit to say he was closing. I'm not really sure if he knew he would be mentioned either. Does the White House have egg on its face? Well, sure, of course it does. I'm not really sure if this story adds to that though.

Obviously no one is literally claiming that Obama mentioning this restaurant caused it to immediately collapse. Beyond that, I think any further explanation I could proffer as to the metaphorical intent of this news item would probably be lost on you. I regret this thread won't be able to meet your needs.

We all know, at least us adults anyway, Obama mentioning it didnt doom it.. but whatta coincidence. We have had 3 family owned restaurants close down since Feb in my town. Of course the fast food joints are going gangbusters, but decent family restaurants.. theyre going the way of the family owned personal and pleasant druggists and pharmacists here. Theyre almost all gone and all we have are walgreens and CVS. Our one remaining and taking a nose dive druggist runs his shop 1/2 antique/boutique and 1/2 pharmaceuticals on our little "quaint" main street... makes you wonder. Progress? Hardly...
