quacks like a duck...

looks like a duck...

it must be...

June the 9th 1934, a legend was born !!

Donald Duck first appeared in the Silly Symphonies cartoon The Wise Little Hen on June 9, 1934 (though he is mentioned in a 1931 Disney storybook). Donald's appearance in the cartoon, as created by animator Dick Lundy, is similar to his modern look—the feather and beak colors are the same, as is the blue sailor shirt and hat—but his features are more elongated, his body plumper, and his feet smaller. Donald's personality is not developed either; in the short, he only fills the role of the unhelpful friend from the original story.

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since 1934...but that year had many other significant celebs that came into this world...amongst others...did you know?...

Alan Arkin
Barbara Eden
Charles Manson
Frankie Valli
George Segal
Hank Aaron
James Franciscus
Judy Dench (what a wonderful M)
Leonard Cohen
Loretta Lynn
Marty Feldman
Pat Boone
Richard Chamberlain
Roberto Clemente
Rue McClanahan
Shirley MacLaine
Sophia Loren
Sidney Pollack
Woody Allen...

....awww the memories....

A lot more of them here:

1934 was also a very interesting year...did you know?...

1934 saw the turning point in the great depression in America with unemployment decreasing to 22% . But in other parts of the world some of the political changes occurring would cause the next world war , in Germany Adolf Hitler declared himself the fuhrer ( ultimate ruler ) , in Russia Stalin began his massacres and in China Mao Tse-Tung spread the communist doctrine.

Near their hide-out in Black Lake, Louisiana, FBI men ambush bank robbers on May 23rd Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow and fire, killing them.

The Loch Ness Monster is spotted for the first time

The Film Stand Up and Cheer, with five-year-old Shirley Temple in a relatively minor role. but she steals the show and a star is born ,later in the year she goes on to sing " The Good Ship Lollipop in the film Bright Eyes

And this totally blows my mind !!! :

How Much things cost in 1934

Average Cost of new house $5,970.00
Average wages per year $1,600.00
Cost of a gallon of Gas 10 cents
Average Cost for house rent $20.00 per month
A loaf of Bread 8 cents
A LB of Hamburger Meat 12 cents
Studebaker Truck $625.00
Arrow Men's Shirt $2.50 more here...:

Thanks Donald, while searching about you, I found other interesting things that I was unaware of. Maybe some other members here will enjoy this as much as I did.

Happy Birthday Ol' Friend !!!
