Watch out ATS : Embedding YouTube Videos May Soon Be a Felony

www.infowars.com

According to Mark Masnick, if a website embeds a YouTube video that is determined to have infringed on copyright and more than 10 people view it on that website, the owner or others associated with the website could face up to five years in prison.

I would be very sad if ATS can no longer embed YT vids
if that happen.. do we have an alternative solution ?
or we will have to save each video in our ATS profile before embeding it in a thread

YT and ATS are like bros in a way
we use a lot of their video in here to complete threads

Read Masnick’s article here. He explains how the new law would expand copyright violations from reproducing and distributing to performing – including streaming video over the internet.

As readers of Infowars.com know, many videos are removed from YouTube after copyright owners complain about infringement. This happens with thousands of news clips every year. Most people are familiar with the now common black box replacing a video that says the video has been removed for copyright reasons.

If enacted, this law will go one step further and turn people who embed a copyrighted video into criminals. It will also set the stage to criminalize linking to copyrighted information — like corporate media news sources — and shut down the alternative media.

It will also make people think twice about putting up all kinds of videos, from news reports to clips from documentaries and other educational material.

It does not take a vivid imagination to realize the political implications of this legislation.

Internet is slowly becoming like a police state ...

I won't be sad, ATS youtube embedding is a bad implementation anyway, because you can't view the embedded video full screen.

And since I like to watch them full screen, the embedding is pretty useless. If it had a "maximize icon" I might miss it. The only videos I watch embedded on ATS are those where the video content is unimportant, like some talking head jabbering.

Since the embedded video display area is way too small, if you really want to see what's happening you have to watch it in a larger view like full screen. Here's a recent example:

watch the video with full screen after 1:49 ..
It's hard to see what's happening even full screen and nearly impossible when it's embedded.

it says the owners could face 5 years in prison, so by the sounds of it even if someone else from an other country posted it, the owners would be prosecuted. so it would only not apply to none u.s. websites, unless they do something simular.

Its US law, not world law. Or do you mean that ATS is US based, and emedding YT in an American ownend site, could bring the owners in jail?

So we could focus on proper things!

And have a lot less chaff to winnow through.

Yet you don't speak for everybody here on ATS.
How else you analyze UFO video's for example?

I agree most YT vids are to much BS, but i some cases needed. Like exposing police brutality, or dancing at the memorial.

Nonsense. An uploader can decide if they want to allow their video to be embeded or not. Embedding a video is just linking to it. The content isn't stored on your server. So you couldn't take someone to court over it. I call shenanigans.
