There are those things we look forward to each summer that don't quite fit into the rest of the year. Between carnivals, festivals, and amusement parks, there is plenty to look for.
So what do you look forward too.
The ice cream truck?
snowball stand?
funnel cake?

Me, its fresh squeezed lemonade at the carnival, watermelon, and soft serve.

Well it's more of a spring time treat, but because I live in NB, Canada (east coast) every spring is fiddlehead season!

Fiddleheads

they are delicious and are a great side to anything. some people soak them in vinegar like cucumber, others like me prefer them with a little butter, or if I'm not watching my waist, bearnaise sauce.

YUM!

Through the year I'm always so deeply in need of watermelon...
I've been having some for a couple of weeks now
Next big thing is: reading Thomas Pynchon's AGAINST THE DAY in timeless outdoors sessions. And probably summer dinning nights, I love the smell of food being fried spreading across.

I love watermelon too. It does make you have to pee a lot, though
And ice cream. We use to have homemade sometimes when I was a kid. I love vanilla ice cream, topped with fresh strawberries or peaches or with chocolate syrup. Yum!

tomato sandwich. We plant tomato plant every year and when the Goliath's get big, red, and juicy, you slice it up, put it between two pieces of bread, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, a slice of cheese and it's heaven. the first one is usually the best. after that, it's BLT's. But only with fresh tomatoes.

I like them too. They're also good with sliced cucumber. I cant wait till my tomatoes come in. Already have a few starting to grow. Oh, and fried green tomatoes are one of my favorites too.

I'd have to say that my favorite summer treat is a ice cold beer at the end of a day of hard work.

Wait a second, that's my year long treat. So, upon pondering it further..... yep, it's still beer.

So many styles to choose from. I like wiezen in the summer and a dortmunder style in the cool months.

My absolute favorite summer food is homemade potato salad! I know this could be made year round...but...I only make it in the summer. I love, love love it! If I let myself I could eat the whole bowl in one day.....but instead I share it with friends on a picnic...it is more fun that way and easier on the ole waistline!
