Activists Prepare New 15-boat Flotilla To Gaza

hosted.ap.org

ISTANBUL (AP) -- Pro-Palestinian activists say a planned convoy of aid ships to the Gaza Strip will be twice as big as a similar flotilla that was raided a year ago by Israeli forces, leaving nine people dead on a Turkish boat.

Flotilla should expect to arrive just before Palestine seeks UN Recognition for Independent State in September...

Any info about the payload of the flotilla?

They should be ready to be inspected by Israeli forces. If they are only bringing humanitarian aid(which I seriously doubt) then Israel should allow them to proceed. However, in the all to likely event that they are smuggling arms, ammunition, or other such contraband, Israel should have the right to sink every single vessel in the flotilla. How do you like them apples? The only reason to say no to such a proposal is because you, they, and everybody else knows what is really happening.

Thats the issue. Since Israel controls that portion, under UN law they are the ones who can prescribe how aid enters the territory. The last floatilla (that ended in disaster for the floatilla) was given the option to dock at an Israeli port so the cargo could be inspected, and the floatilla declined.

This is going to run into the same problem.

What I find intresting is the aid groups state the blockade is illegal, even though the UN says otherwise. The floatilla demands UN law be applied, while ignoring it themselves.

If the aid groups main concern is humanitarian aid, would logic dictate to follow the rules to ensure the aid arrives?

Exactly. It's really that simple.

Want to get your humanitarian aid across? Dock for inspection and stay by to watch your aid gets through, normally.
Problem is that these people don't have that as their main goal.. Their main goals are to have their 15 minutes of fame while making Israel look evil.

Funny thing about it is that people can't grasp why the IDF navy forces these ships to stop..

Think of a person who is carrying medications for his grandpa. Imagine him storming through an airport security without letting anyone inspect him only because he thinks he should not be inspected due to having medication on him. It's the exact same case.
If you are carrying stuff that are meant to help other people, best way to get it across (in our case) is to dock at Ashdod port and have the cargo examined for unwanted materials.

Not to mention that by simply unloading the aid on Gaza's shores they are risking an event in which Hamas steals all the useful material to itself while leaving it out of the simple Gaza resident's reach.

Thats the other issue that people ignore. There are no ports within Gaza capable of off loading the aid vessels because of their side.
