Alright, first question. Why does everyone seem to call threads 'threats'? Is it just a typo, or some meme I'm not informed of?

And the most important question, why is there a little black bar on the front of some threads? I can upload a screen if needed. Just curious is all.

Mods move this pleaseif its in the wrong spot.

The black bands appear to mark threads which have received more attention.
They're attached to threads which have received over 200 replies or a certain number of flags.
I'm sure about the number of replies, because I've noticed the moment when a couple of my own threads have picked up the black bar.

"Threat" for "thread" is just a case of sloppy pronunciation finding its way into people's writing.
Another example, in modern times, seems to be the corruption of;
"If you think that,
you've got another 'think' coming"
into the sloppy and meaningless "You've got another thing coming".
Welcome to the ranks of grumpy old men.

My guess is that another reason, in addition to sloppiness for "threats" is that it is a Freudian slip. Paranoia does reign supreme here, does it not? "Threat" is on everyone's mind it would seem.
