Sheeple

How many people do you know that go to work, come home, turn on their favorite shows, like house, or Hbo, etc. and then go to bed and repeat the process? I for one almost never watch T.V.and when I do it's some puppet propagandist semi educational channel like CNN. I'm 16 and I can see this dull cycle for what it is. Most go to work for say an office job, a redundant job that requires no critical thought, go home and watch some BS T.V. show that dumbs them down further, and then repeats the process. Sheeple are like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed #. How do I see America? Fat, whinny, sheeple who are kept in the dark and quite frankly, I don't think they care.

I strive for a very active, holistic, and awake non ignorant life. I strive for the truth and I think most others on ATS do the same. But is the average American life not what the Elites want? Fat, unhealthy, ignorant people with ADD, stuck in the same dull cycle? And do they not promote it with the BS media America has? People are more worried about Charlie Sheen than a nuclear melt down and revolt in Libya with U.S. soldiers lives at stake.

Question Authority.

Personally, I don’t like being told what to do. I’ve always had a problem with authority and to me, the television seems like it has become the most respected, and feared, authority that we know. Where do you go to get the scoop on what semi-developed country Baby Bush has decided to go into and # with? Where do you go to find out what all the cool kids are wearing to school this year? Where do you go to sneak a glance into the life of some homogenized, dramatized, idealized life of a family that you wish you were a part of?
Right after they tell you what to be afraid of (Sars, Y2K, Aids, child pornographers, a suspect described as a black male in his 20’s, virtually anyone of Middle Eastern descent, road-rage, air-rage, airbags, con-men, a suspect described as a black male in his 20’s, killer bees, brain cancer from cell phones, cell phones causing explosions at gas pumps, the imminent threat of a terrorist attack at any given moment, Anthrax, West Nile, a suspect described as a…get the picture?) they tell you what to buy. Go lower your cholesterol with Cheerios and then brush your teeth with Colgate, pick your kids up from soccer practice in the all new, gas guzzling SUV, make Kraft macaroni and cheese with your Swanson fish sticks (and remember, Kraft is made by the good people that bring us Marlboro cigarettes, Philip Morris), get that purple pill to keep it up for the wife, and don’t forget the duct tape and plastic sheets, and then, if you’re unemployed because of an accident, call Angino and Rovner and get the compensation that you deserve. Sue somebody.
Know who I think I’m going to sue? ABCNBCCBSFOX. Yes, I’m going to sue them for wasting 65, 318 hours of my time. I wonder how much I can get? The television has given me plenty of skewed, spun, and unreliable information that I had to un-learn in order to function properly again.

Look around, you turn on the T.V and it's BS. Our two party oligarchy is BS. Their is one party and thats the corporate party.

Our music now days, BS
our media in general BS

All these things are to distract us from the truth. Which is our government is BS and run by a bunch of elites who strive for personal gain and don't care who or what gets hurt doing it.

How else could we just watch as our planet is being destroyed in front of us? How else could we just watch as thousands of American troops and even more thousands of middle Eastern citizens die based off of a lie? How else could the person the propagated that lie not be held accountable? But their is good in this world, their are people who want to make a difference for the better, there are people who strive for the truth, like many do here on ATS and those are the people who when I get older and become a legal adult I want to be around.

I hope everyone else who reads this promotes and lives by truth and not corporate BS too.

Also i'd like to say I meditate and encourage everyone else to do so too.

Well I for one am up at 5.30am, six days a week to go to work so I can give my four kids a roof, meals, clothes etc. As well as keeping up with housework, the garden, running them here and there, just generally taking care of business.I also like some downtime in front of the telly but would hardly class myself as a sheep. I work because I Iook after my responsibilities. Also my taxes go towards people who can' / don't want to go to work. I guess they have the luxury to not conform..

I liken the people to a large flock of sheep..

Oh yes it's frustrating..
The problem we have is it's not just TPTB that are corrupt, it's the whole system..
As you stated in the OP, most western countries run on a two party system..
Two sides of the same coin.
Therefore voting is useless as are petitions and protests..
It leaves few alternatives...

All this dance music, crappy TV and social media crazes are driving me insane. Every time some crazy douche makes a youtube video I get a news report showing me.. That isn't god damn news. Heard on TV today that Jenifer Lopez is back, has a video and it's already got over 18 million views, ever since I've been wondering to myself.. HOW in the WORLD is that possible, then I remembered... Sheeple and distraction

If she put the carbon tax to a referendum it'd get shot down quicker then a Spitfire by a Super Hornet. I have no idea how that works. The Australian government, or atleast the Labor party.. is blatantly ignoring the will of the people.. That really pisses me off.

You have successfully put into words what I feel and have been feeling for some years now. EXACTLY.
I have up till now been unable to put it into words because I always get pissed every time I'm in the middle of my thread writing.
Then it turns into some self righteous introverted loner BS and I sound ridiculous. You however made it sound perfect thanks. To be honest with you I have completely lost all hope for people world wide now. It used to be in America only,but now that I live over seas form the states I see the cancer of such things spreading here as well and it sickens me to death.

I see people waking up in the morning only to get on Farmville or some other alternate life BS and stay there ALL DAY LONG. When I confront them and ask if they feel like they are wasting their life or if they feel fulfilled, they say....get this...."I don't understand what your asking"

I think this is one reason that on some deep level I wish more diseases would happen, more Fukushima's, more tsunamis, more tragedy and violence and death and destruction. Yes it is bad to say these things and even F**** up. But if horrible things don't happen to draw people out of their slothful existence I feel IMO that future generations will only degenerate further.
In the year 2300 AD humankind will probably be nothing more than a boneless blob of flesh sitting in front of a rhythmically glowing cube built by robots.

I'm an American citizen but I have expatriated to the Philippines.
For the most part people here and other countries I have been to are like America aware of whats going on.
I do see a lot of American propaganda spilling over here. in some ways it is easier to get people here to follow along, because it is considered stylish to be westernized. Little do many people know however that the "westernizing" they are undergoing has little to do with Justin bieberdouche and the latest Hollywood trend and EVERYTHING to do with politics and corporatism.

My point is that the cancer is slowly taking over even 10,000 miles from the tumor.
