President Barack Obama approved Monday the resumption of military trials for detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, ending a two-year ban.

It was the latest acknowledgement that the detention facility Obama had vowed to shut down within a year of taking office will remain open for some time to come. But even while announcing a resumption of military commission trials, Obama reaffirmed his support for trying terror suspects in U.S. federal courts -

So I guess this means he doesn't plan to close it? Does anyone realize that Guantanamo is a symbol that helps Al Qaeda recruit new members? (assuming they actually exist)

Furthermore how will these military trials play out? I'm willing to bet they will play out like kangaroo courts. What a sham.

I actually was just asking a professor of mine about this.
I swear Obama said he was going to close it.
I found out later, they really had no where to put these guys because if they charged them in the states none of the evidence would be valid. So the US gov't has been trying to shake them off on other nations, with very little response.
Why do they waste sooo much time.
