Just after 5:30 this evening an employee discovered a suspicious white powdery substance on a box in the management area of the Walmart supercenter in Florence. The walmart was closed shortly threreafter. The super center was evacuated and Florence Police Department was contacted. Florence PD brought in the Colbert County Hazmat Team, and they tested the substance and found it was not harmful. The walmart opened back up around 8:30p.m.
Customers inside the store are being allowed to leave if they want, but no one is allowed inside the store. The parking lot has also been evacuated. All roads around Walmart are backed up witih traffic. There are reports that all cash registers have been cordoned off.

KIRKSVILLE, MO. -- The Kirksville Walmart store was locked down for a period of time Wednesday afternoon, after police received a report of an armed man in the parking lot threatening to harm himself.
The vehicle was approached by police and the driver was detained. It was determined by officers that there was nothing of a criminal nature.
No other details are being released at this time.
