It all boils down to what kind of Country/World you want your kids to grow up in and that is the only side you should be on - stand together otherwise you lose it all. Remember how many died for you to have the life you have and then ask what are we going to do for OUR children - they deserve that you ask that question.

When people are hungry enough they will rise up together and forget all the petty squables and stop turning against eachother!

Inevitably, the greed of the wall street bankers and corporate bosses will lead them to their own demise. No matter how many years, decades or centuries they have been holding the scources of power from the lower, working and middle classes. Eventually,(If history has taught us anything) The repressed will unify in protest to these corporations and the corrupt system. The hardest fight will be making sure a small percentage of the repressed don't become repressors and continue the cycle of greed and destruction that has infected this planet.

David9176,

You just forced me to quickly create a new ATS account. I’m a long-time lurker but always sat on the fence when it came to signing up. Your rant changed that once and for all.

Kudos and a big old-fashioned Midwestern-style thank you for that! (Ya, you betcha!)

Before I even make an introductory posting, I just wanted to reply to what you have written.

First off, I immediately “starred” your post even before I wrote this reply. Your statement is simply awesome and totally spot on. I’m 49 years old, and have been politically passionate since my late teens. (Do the math folks.) I’ve seen what would be best described as a slow-moving decay upon what I believe is still the greatest country in the world.

Call this “decay” what you will. Corruption? Blatant greed? NWO Conspiracy? Whatever!

The fact is that something is wrong. Terribly wrong!

I hear and see all this talk about how us everyday folks have to do with less, while all the time the gap between the uber-wealthy and all the rest of us grows wider and ever-wider. It both distresses me as well as outright disgusts me. What you wrote tonight is righteous and in my honest opinion truly correct.

I’m going to leave it at that as it is 3:00am and I have to open the store tomorrow, otherwise I’d state some more.

I simply felt I had to make some sort of reply to what I personally feel is the best posting I’ve read yet on ATS. (Believe me, that’s saying a lot as I’ve enjoyed this site for many months now.)

Cheers!

I know many people in this country who would rather keep their head buried in the sand and skip along happily in their own little make belive world. As long as it is not happening to them they want to ignore it. By the time "things" get around to causing problems in their lives, I am afraid it may be too late. They think by keeping their heads down that they will be left alone. I have not lost hope, though. I see here people who do know what is going on and each of us must keep getting in peoples face with the truth. There can be strength in numbers and those of us who know need to find others in our communities who are also aware. Some people are afraid to speak up because they don't want to be standing alone. Start meetings, if for nothing else to grow numbers. Divided, but like minded groups need to band together.

That kind of totaltarianism is not an option for US change. That is about the most disgusting "reform" I can think of. Anyone who reads the history of these thugs know they are murderous and oppressive to the hilt. The people of the nations they take over end up being slaves to their ignorant rule.

Fitting the corporations and our government into their legal, constitutional role and constraints on power and money is the option for reform in America. If Unions had leaders fighting for this, I would be more sympathic to their cause.

UN enforced lop sided trade agreements are not free markets. International power and interests have replaced National power and interests. We don't need our elite playing the roles of global ruler wannabes. We need to undo America's binds of foreign entanglement. We need to reform and enforce the law.

What a fantastic post!

"LAWLESSNESS"...

Imho getting back to the literal constitution is the most "fair and just" system; to beg a phrase from the "enemy camp". I'm not sayng:"we wouldn't have gone into Iraq" if congress didn't delegate its power to declare war to "stimpy" after 911. but it was a symptom of the abdication of responsibility we see up there. Bush should never have been given carte blanche to use "whatever means necessary",In my mind it was at least dangerous and llegal.and it cost us a lost decade/lives and and a respect for the "law".

The black body armored dhs is not asking for permission to advance what can only be called a thinly veiled coup of the constitution by intimidating the populace:" We are starting in- home cavity searches Monday for "the safety of the American public"and we unbelieveably "go":" uh.... ahright... I guess"..

The SEC sat and watched while we were threatened and swindled,. Ashcroft was focused on advancing the subjugation ("police stating")of the American public. A.G. Holder is no better at this point. The FBI has a fraud division full of the best forensic accountants in the country! Why don't we see a "perp walk" of financial criminals?

Lawlessness .

The constitutional republic model is better than the "democracy"model because laws are SUPPOSED to protect the little guy from abuse and mob rule... That "law" part is some how missing..

Yeah man, George Carlin hits the nail on the head! If I didn't know better, I'd think he knew Scott Walker and the Koch brothers personally.

Furthermore, I think you're absolutely right in giving that mild warning to the ultra rich in this country and around the world as they should be paying close attention to the direction that this tsunami is going in.

I was attending a rally last week, supporting the Wisconsin protestors, and one of my state's legislatures posed the question to the crowd; "What are we going to do with these greedy ultra wealthy people?" and someone in the crowd answered; "Eat Them!" Yeah, I'd say they had better watch out, the egyptians are coming.

" walk like an Egyptian"

Okay "Noodles (is a dictatorship!) boy"

Just what exactly do you think they want? This is the final push: They want us to start some crap because the body scanners are developed; Every body accepts that "domestic terrorists live next door and you are only one dissenting thought away from being scooped up with them:

" if you are not with us you are with the "terrorists"!

Boy did we "f'k up".There are hundred of thousands out of work hanging on by the skin of their teeth who would jump at the chance to wear a black uniform and thump somebody for a paycheck.

You want to get people "walking like Egyptians" ( rioting) you better start donating plasma now, stock up on food/water ammunition and your favorite dvd's because you will be spending alot of time under curfew and house arrest...
or popping out of storm drains with a rifle. Think about it; If you are not willing to go there yourself.

If you told me months ago state legislators would scatter from their capital to halt a democratic process.and be cheered on by ranting self important fast-food-chain noodle cooks demanding "partial ownership" ;I would have asked you what meds you missed that day. But we saw it.

I am becoming more and more confident we are a razors edge (months) from actual bloodshed. The sides are drawn already. I don't fully agree with either "extreme". One side wants to lock you to your punch press 18hours a day 7days a week and lease you the chain: the other wants to lock you to your punch press 18 hours a day 7days a week and gladly subsidizes your chain. The first one calls you a "productive citizen" the other a "comrade or "brother owner".

Hey, I love "The Daily Show" and Jon Stewart. I think that segment you sourced was great as it clearly shows the hypocrisy portrayed daily by the republican party and their elected officials. I just can't believe that they don't even hear the words coming out of their mouths. I don't know whether to laugh at them or cry in dismay, it's just outright shocking that these double talking people have any support base whatsoever.

Boy you have said a mouth full!
But haven't you guessed yet that people are being brainwashed by this stuff called Reality TV?
They are all waiting their chance to fight someone for a star or starlet or be the next fake millionaire that gets the beautiful girl.
IMHO, I really think Americans will have to hit rock bottom, like addicted people do, before anything will happen. They will have to donn the imperialists uniform and have all their rights gone before they will ever want them back.
Then they will have to fight.
Sad that only violence makes people open their eyes.

with all due respect to you....i keep seeing and hearing the mantra that americans are only interested in "survivor", "idol" and not any other type of problems happening in todays world. america is a nation of 320 million people, maybe 12 to 14 million are even tuned to these shows, the rest of the 95% of americans are doing and seeing other things. some common sense and elementary math debunk what you say. of the 15 to 20 friends, neighbors, and people that i have talked to recently about this, i have only met 2 people that have even had those programs on, and one of those said it was just backround noise.
the overwhelming majority of americans do not watch this crap, so a little truth and context would go along way.

I think it was a set-up all along. I think the bankers wanted us to use credit un-wisely, build bigger homes, pay larger mortgage interest rates and buy more expensive cars all along. Those in power weilded their borrowed and saved wealth to build factories (here and in other countries) to profit off our "desires" that they whipped up through high-priced marketing ads. Whether they try to convince us "you need a bigger house" or "you need this beer ... it definitely will get you laid". They wanted our participation in their economy so as to gain from the fees and interest that they could skim off the top. We have been their pawns all along.

I was and am admitadly a pawn. I bought new cars for myself and wife in the 1980s through 2004. Financed them, made the payments. I bought a house that was too big for our needs in 1996. I have relatively no equity in the house because we got an easy-to-get home equity loan. And then got it extended. I had credit cards (but now I only have one left to pay off). My spending has come down lately after a 10% pay cut at work last year because our parent-company has been spending money like water trying to build a still-not-working-well piece of software. My wife cannot work (but is not sucking the disability teet, so don't go there) - so it's a one-income family paying for two kids to go to private school, trying to pay down debt and saving just in case of job failure.

This year has been great - I have closed a 30K line of credit with American Express (sorry guys, you won't get my fees), paid off and closed one Chase credit card (no more interest payments). I will pay off a 2nd Chase credit card and close it. I have a lot more to go, but in the past few years, I've paid down over $40K in debt. Dave Ramsey would be proud.

I have to make sure my kids do not get into the credit "racket" and that they stay far away from spending more than they will make. What did this racket pay for? Large homes for bankers, their kids' private schools, their country club memberships, their trips to Hawaii and so on. Hope they enjoyed it because the middle class cannot do it anymore.

Our taxation system is only based on "income". A rich person could have huge investments but little income per year (ie. Warren Buffet is someone like that). They pay relatively low taxes due to not being taxed on their wealth. Rich people will *NOT* be hurt by a higher tax bracket. With high income, they should be putting it away in investments and cannot be hurt by a 5-10% higher taxation. The rich are smart - if they save properly, they shouldn't care about 'income tax".

By the way - you know we are also sticking it to the states by buying over the internet, right? We are all supposed to be paying our state's "Use Tax" for stuff we order through the mail if the tax is not taken by the vendor. I'd bet we all owe a few hundred bucks per year for internet purchases to our states who are not getting that money. So, we are also watching our state tax incomes drop (which also coincides with the higher unemployment rates).

We need to build something and export it - we need China to raise the value of the Yuan so that we decide *NOT* to import as much from them and make it here ourselves. We need government strong enough to say that it won't stand for the outsourcing of jobs and product factories to other countries. We need a government strong enough to work for the people and not the rich corporations who help them get into office.

What is happening in the usa is exactly whats happening here in the UK we have cuts to social security , cuts to the national health service, cut to social services, we also have benefit cuts, housing cuts and soicial welfare cuts to single mothers and come april 20011 there are going to be mass evictions from people homes because of cuts to housing benefits which will in fact make the more vunrable PEOPLE in our society pay with their homes.
I hope that the rest of the british people will have the guts to rise to this and kick this morally corrupt government and its coalition out once and for all. Its about time that we the british people began civil unrest because we are paying £1.30 p a litre now and its set to rise to £1.50 within a fortnight , the british people havent seen anything yet because the worse is yet to come and believe you me if will be mind blowing what is about to happen in the UK VERY SOON .????????????

I hate to sound like a defeatist, but this system is doomed and beyond repair.

The entire lower and middle class population are too divided in terms of religion, ethnicity (or race), and social and economic policy to ever unite.

Also, I hope is not a surprise to learn that many of these people are not brainwashed, but would prefer to keep the system this way because they feel they have what it takes to someday rise up into the upperclass.

I asked a co-worker once, if you are not rich, why are you voting republican to cut social programs and lower taxes for the wealthy? He me gave his usual devious grin and said, "Not yet, but I will!"

This guy would prefer to get the short end of the stick now, in order preserve a system that could possibly benefit him in the future. So there is a large segment of the population that is overly confident and arrogant in actually believing they can catapult themselves into the upperclas and somehow beat out all of the other millions of poeple trying to do the same thing.

My philosophy is create a more equitable system, if I make it to the top great, but if I don't well then I'd prefer to know that I won't starve. What each individual believes about personal success, purpose of human life, and community is probably the biggest divide of them all even if you ignore religion and race.

Follow up to my long post. This analyst at T. Rowe Price says you can work until 70 and have a better retirement rather than go on SSI at 62. yes, work 8 more years is a great idea.

finance.yahoo.com... _to_retire

Just like the government and business "boobs" out there want you to spend your money to keep the economy "growing" (growth grows their personal income) - now a reputable company is advising to spend more now and retire later.

Given that 50 year olds have a hard time finding a job - good luck to those with sound and a sizeable income who can work through 70.

Pretty sickening for them to advise this - unless you really have a good job that you love and enjoy doing. My mother actually fit that bill. She did antique trading and flea marketing up through the age of 85 yaers old to keep a steady income - she kept busy and enjoyed it quite a bit. But if you are on a job that you hate, you don't exactly have a choice - and many firms will retire-you without your input.

Ha, the squeeze has been here for years, decades. I like to explain it as an alcoholic, it takes years to be able to hold your liquor well, and in fact almost become immune to it, but when you get to the point of being an alcoholic it may only tak a few drinks to get you drunk, we are all drunk, per se. A little bit of this and that over a long time and it becomes second nature, if gas were to rise in the US to 5 bucks or so over night then you would see a total panic , but if it is done so in incremental ways ( just like other commodities ) you get used to it, it only takes time, something TPTB have on their side?

Well stated OP. The middle class has been dumbed down by the globalists, who now own and control all of america: what we see, hear, think. It is has been a very successful gambit on their parts, with nearly 100 years of fiat currency with which to buy up and control everything tangible and leave the general populace with nothing of value, major debt, climbing inflation, impotent government, poor health, and an overall feeling of hopelessness and impending doom. These fearmongers have used and spent human lives like chicklets, have poisoned our food, water, earth and air and consequently our bodies, minds and spirits.

Yes, it has been an effective long range plan to globalize and enslave the middle class and below and to divvy up the spoils to the elite ruling class and their blood-sucking sychophants. And sadly, they have effectively pitted us against each other, supporting both the right and the left to advance their secret agendas. It has been a conspiracy of blatant lies, theivery, and murder.

At this juncture, only a miracle can prevent their total dominance and control at the expence of the annhilation of the middle class. And sadly, they own all the cards and the dealers of them. At any moment, they can play the final cards whereby the montary system collapses. In that event, as currency becomes massively devalued and food, water, fuel and shelter scarce, insurrection will ensue fostering in marshal law, incarceration, and increased loss of lives. It is then that they will have won everything and we will become their unwitting slaves to their demonic plans.

I, for one, maintain that spiritual ascension and practice will be our sword with which we all awake and create the miracles that somehow win the war and bring peace to this planet. I will continue trying and believing that love wins in the end. Despite the wickedness and apparent odds, we shall overcome if we believe and embrace the oneness of this universe and compassionate love of one another.
