It is funny that this Union debate is bring out conservative colors that I have not seem since mid Bush.

Thus far on ATS

I have heard comparisons of protestors to Al Qaeda

I heard many suggestion TO US THE GOVERNMENT TO QUELL OPPOSITION-

the use of the police and the military.

suspension of due process grated by the constitution

The worst is the berating of people who are protesting, using the same tactics that the GOP used to silence
dissenters of war and the security state actions of the last decade.

It is like 2003 all over again...

What happened to the TEA party and those poor people who were being threatened by the government??? It seems to me that these same people are advocating the use of government to achieve their goals. Several solutions advocated here would require suspension of the fourth and nine amendment, initiated by...( drum roll )

government!

So I declare here and now that the TEA PARTY and its dramatic pageantry was nothing more than an excellent rebranding effort spearheaded by corporate interests and maned by a great many faux patriots. I reject corporatism, the end recipient of this fabled freedom I have been hearing about.

I ask all of you to witness the fact that our government hating friends here are all of a sudden very pro government, those of you with memories please take notice of this about face we are witnessing here.

The corporate agenda must be stopped; first our saving, then our economy and now our wages-
this is a proxy war, using government to bolster and stratify elite control!

To use government is to use government

and

IF you do not like sucking eggs... do not let people put eggs near your mouth!

I'm Libertarian, make fun of conservatives all you want........see if I care.

Unions are about greed and not human decency like it was early in the last century. We have the dept of labor and osha which are gov bodies that have effectively replaced the intent of the original unions. Now what you have are a bunch of people banding together to extort tax payers for nearly 100% tax payer subsidized benefits. Think about this for a minute, everyone in the country is hurting and doing more with less then you have these teachers who already get amazing benefits compared to the rest of us private workers refusing to contribute more to their "good ol days benefits plan" like they're better than everyone else. It really is a pathetic site to see.

If you are a "Libertarian", shouldn't you be agreeing with his premise that the TEA party has been hijacked and converted into yet another flavor of the Republican party? My impression was that the TEA party was originally of a strong libertarian slant.

I would think a true Libertarian would not approve of any government meddling and would actually be calling for the removal and retraction of lots of wasteful and inappropriate laws.

Not very Libertarian, it would seem, to rely on Government to keep businesses in check. Me personally, I would prefer to return to the concept of Guilds (which are not class based, but trade based instead) and let the workers and businesses control their industry together.

According to BizTimes.com:

Democrats and union leaders said they're willing to agree to the parts of Walker's budget repair bill that would double their health insurance contributions and require them to contribute 5.8 percent of their salary to their pensions.

However, the union leaders want to keep their collective bargaining rights.

I was all about the tea party when Ron Paul was in control then out of freaking nowhere Palin came into the picture. Palin and her bible warriors hijacked the movement which is when I stopped caring about it.

For reference I'm a union member, not proud to admit it but I have no choice. My previous job was non union and both are retail stores. My old non union job had better pay, benefits were more generous and kicked in sooner, my co-workers were of higher quality and the company provided more for the employees in terms of appreciation whether it was grill out days or having a better break room. The disconnect between regular employees and management is shocking, I'm used to talking to my managers about problems and now I have to get in touch with some union rep who doesn't know much about anything. Sorry for the off topic rant.

Quoted for agreement. Well put Janky. The word hypocrite comes to mind. I've not read truer words on ATS in months, if ever. Brilliant observation!
