National Geographic Magazine released a video clip, below, showing the most "typical" human face on the planet as part of its series on the human race called "Population 7 billion."

"Don't get used to the results, however. Within 20 years, the most typical person will reside in India."

I was thinking why isn't it an Indian for there are 1.3 billion, however China/Thailand/Japan/Taiwan/"Asians" account for around half of the worlds population.

I don't expect it to change either. Heck, all of West Coast Canada is now Asian and it's only going up.

Either way, I thought I'd bring this to the attention of ATS.

the typical face guy looks like 'long duck dong'.

i say you take all the sperm and eggs of the earths entire population and made a baby out of it, the look would be a boy or girl with darker features, because of the high population of africans, indians, darker featured hispanics and asians if you blend those in with the european and lighter colored hispanics and asians you would definitely get a mullatto looking person.

i think the way they did it was by using the average look of the worlds biggesT most populus race (ethnic group) being the han chinese @ 9 million. i think you would get a more accurate representation of the average man using my methods LOL

No, you would just get a blend of all that is available.

The young man they choose is very beautiful. He represents the largest bell curve of a face that is on this planet, currently, not a composite.

yes and i'm saying that blend would be of a man with darker features. i would almost say a native american looking man.

sorry...... but typical is just sooo boring. they started with normal couples having 2.4 children, now they have their own idea how we should look. Thankfully not many fall into the typical category otherwise us ugly blokes would be left out i suppose tptb will be shaping our personalities next?

Do I sense a touch of racism here OP? It takes some getting used to, to realize that white, European based stock is in a minority on this globe. We are used to being in the majority in Canada. Change is always difficult, but when you realize we never were a majority on the global scale, well, there is no option but to get over it.

I have a reverence for life, and for the particular challenges that I have been dealt as well. Thinking like a "majority" person was cool when I was growing up. In southern Ontario I felt privileged to have been born in one of the safest, most peaceful places on earth with an abundance of great food, opportunity and material things to enjoy.

It was probably true back then if not so much now. Right now this area has been enriched with wave after wave of immigrants from all over the globe. I live in the midst of it these days, having moved into the urban downtown. I am OK with sharing my public space with people of every shade, shape and contour, speaking languages I do not understand. Right now we have a nice mix. Not sure I would be as happy if one racial group became a majority and began to impose its ways. So for now, so far so good.

What I may not be happy with will be when that typical Asian or Indian man is making 6X's the amount of money I do here in Canada with my pension and I can't afford to live, but that is another story.
