Well without any picture proof that I can provide at this very moment, I will say not all sites are labeled under pornographic content. I will fiddle around with the computers to see what other type of responses are emitted from accessing unwanted sites and I will report (with pictures hopefully).

Actually ever since I really started to read ATS, well the sane parts such as history and such, my grades have actually improved. I think I learned more about American government and world history from ATS than from my textbooks.

I agree. But I do not read any threads outside of politics, political ideology, breaking news, and history. So I never see anything about reptilians and such.

I'm really glad you posted this b/c this is what makes the internet wonderful and crappy at the same time. Its wonderful that we can all get together and socialize (so to speak) with people we would never speak to in the real world. Its also pretty neat that anyone can come on here and express the opinion and get kudos (I guess) for well expressed points and theories regardless of age color or education level. Rarely does it work this way at town hall meetings or rallies...

However the reality of these internet forums make me so uneasy. Its funny ATS is the first non profanity manners and decorum be nice no negativety touchy feely forum i've ever been apart of and now I know why. Well got to give growing pupils the right to deny ignorance as well.Cheers.

Actually I would think it's because it's a blog type environment. ATS is considered social networking by most companies.

I don't allow my employees to browse social networking, ATS included for those exact reasons.

I'll agree there, but an open forum format can cause some issues with companies like mine that handle sensitive client information and that sort of thing.

No I get what you are saying. My last employer had the same type of setup. We always found ways around it though. As far as logging on from work, you are enjoying it, but just making sure your employees are obeying the rules. In order to do that you must log in and check.

I highly disagree. Do you know how many times I've thought "if only I knew that when I wrote that report". I could have blown the teachers minds with some of the information I now know. Oh well.

Personal Disclosure: To answer the OP's last question its obvious they were doing it and if the teacher they could be sacked for being slack and if a student they were that vital exception that needs to be secured against.

Please provide some evidence IMMEDIATELY that ATS was flagged as a *pornographic* website or I'm going to have to alert the mod's to this trash asap.

If you have a flash drive you carry with you, look into installing the Vidalia bundle on it. It has a similiar purpose to what the other user was talking about with linux, but it will run natively in windows and there is no filter that can stop or detect it. I used it all the time when I was still working for the local school districts tech department and I didn't have time to screw with the filters.
