Results from constituencies across the country are showing electoral meltdown for Fianna Fáil, with Fine Gael poised to lead the next government.

While poised to fall short of an overall majority, Fine Gael is on course for its strongest showing in more than 28 years.

The Labour Party is enjoying its best result in a general election to date, with Fianna Fáil suffering its worst since the foundation of the party.

Vote Percentage

  1. Fine Gael - 36.1
  2. Labour Party - 19.4
  3. Fianna Fail - 17.4
  4. Independents - 15.2
  5. Sinn Fein - 9.9
  6. Green Party - 1.8

Projected Seat Totals

  1. Fine Gael - 76
  2. Labour Party - 36
  3. Fianna Fail - 25
  4. Independents - 13
  5. Sinn Fein - 12
  6. United Left Alliance - 4

Well so far it looks like Fianna Fail has just taken the beating of their life for applying such harsh austerity to the Republic of Ireland after bailing out the big banks with taxpayer dollars. Finally, these corporate backed thugs get what they deserve.
