Apparently Kurt Russell never knew what it meant even though sometime after WD died, Kurt was brought in and showed the final words written.

To live in the industry with a stigma such as that would be really very strange.

Kurt had to have been around 12 when Walt died, so perhaps he saw potential in the boy?

Kurt Russell for President 2012???

Russell Bloodline?

here is what kurt had to say about it

He said, "It's true. I don't know what to make of that. I was taken into his office one time after he died and I was shown that."

Maybe his final words were a hastily written last will and testament that he never got to finish past the name of the main beneficiary?
Another story I've seen online is that Kurt Russel was the name of Disneys sled.
Why the man would call a sled that or write his final words about a sled, is anyones guess.
All very odd indeed.

His career had a lot of ties to Elvis themes and he starred in Stargate.

Maybe for some reason he was selected to be a star. I often thought about this with a lot of Disney stars.

Maybe there were animators or staff on board at the time - individuals with the respective names of Kurt and Russell who were working on a particular project?

Or personal friends of Disney whom he was thinking of at the time?

(Rosebud)

Or someone else just taking the opportunity to mess with Kurt Russell's head?

(Rosebud!)

What a conundrum! Thanks! Now I can't sleep!

Maybe it has something to do with the movie "the thing."

Maybe it was based on a true story.

That is quite odd because I heard from a friend of the grandson who was a distant cousin of the uncle of the gardner that his final words were related to a proposed new cocky underwater cartoon character........Curt Mussell. And this was decades before SpongeBob. Was that guy a visionary or what.

But not seriously, I don't know I wasn't there.

OK, cool. My wife informs me I am thinking about the 10 year long term contract he officially signed with Disney not when he actually started there. She insists in 1972 he signed but I strongly remember it in 1971. Anyway! She's gonna have fun with this! Cheers!

It's pretty obvious really.

Kurt Russel was Disney's (the company's) most successful child star.

He was also, even then, a total bad ass. Short version: he was into race car driving and doing awesome stuff in general with all his Disney money.

So...

Walt, in what was left of his mind, was leaving Russell in charge of the Walt Disney company.

Never mind that he probably didn't have any of the legal authority to do it, and certainly didn't go through the proper procedure or anything like it.

It's like the WIlly Wonka move. Leave the company to some awesome kid who would really do crazy awesome stuff with it. Disney the company was exactly that kind of company, and Disney the man was exactly that kind of man.
