On Feb. 26 at 4:26 PT a Minotaur I launch vehicle will lift off from Space Launch Complex 8 at Vandenberg AFB. It will be carrying the National Reconnaissance Office's NROL-66 payload into orbit. The Minotaur I uses solid fuel rocket motors which produce a thick white smoke trail and the launch should be visible for hundreds of miles.

Space Archive has a little bit about it here.

There is some more here. This website will have the countdown status.

You can download the Minotaur I launch vehicle user's guide here.

I like a good show as much as the next guy, but all these recon satellites going into orbit worries me.

If the users guide does not interest you, the orbital space coloring book is available here.

This will help to pass the time if the liftoff is delayed. Hot cocoa. Check. Binoculars. Check. Coloring book. Check.

Does anyone know if a scanner is available that has the launch complex frequencies?
