Its fun to learn isnt it

Sure is.
Maybe you can provide examples as to how we run the world because the last I checked we cant even run ourselves or keep our economy afloat.

Wiki?? No thanks, I mean a real source with facts pointing out that we run the world that isnt opinion based.

Oh pfft.
so I click on it and see the word history? Yes, as I suspected.. no evidence that we run the world. Considering we are only a few hundred years old, perhaps you need to look in another direction for who is runing the world if history wiki style is your idea of proof or evidence.

An opinion based on sources. You can infact refer to there sources you know.

Give it a read, you might learn something. I could have just linked you to the Encyclopedia Britannica, but essentialy its the same, an opinion or interpretation based on a collection of sources.

Sorry just trying to help you, if you dont like to learn, well your kinda on your own, especialy if you do not understand the implications of history in establlishing how the world actualy works.

OK Now I'm confused.

We have Advantage "Land of Lincoln" a supposed "American" arguing against the US being in control...

Then we have johnze using that great avatar arguing for it.

Have I missed something here?

Lol, as much as i despise and abhor how America goes about the busines of annihilating any country that doesnt open there trade markets to them. I do understand the reality in which we live. America runs things. Has done since WW2.

I hear ya but...

I also don't see that the US runs things really.
If anything we have been able to establish a certain level of homogeneity.

But I suppose many will appose that view as well because it represents pretty much a voluntary acceptance on their part vs a True form of Imperialism....

Most people don't want to face that reality IMO.

What are you talking about? While they pollute and poison themselves?

I swear to you there going to have a huge surplus in cancer in the next 10-20 years. Their life expectancy is going to be lower. Do you know how much pollution they put into our air? These are sick people!! They are killing the earth.

Yes.. its madness I tells ya!!

Im feeling conspiracy-like tonight... and while donning my tinfoil hat for a moment its a pretty bold statement to make that we run the world when IMO many of us believe that the Vatican and the folks who hold power now after King George have always run the show. Being the dog of war doesnt make us the ruler of the world.

China is being raped just like the rest of the planet. They have just been temporarily bamboozled by the banksters. The good people of China better wake up and see this wholesale pillaging of their country for what it is.

Go ahead and listen to the corporations. The intense, totally inhuman, industrialization has far outpaced their ability to remove the waste products. They are pooping all over themselves for temporary "stimulus".

Meh tryin to right me off as some sort of conspiracy nut is pretty bad form i personaly do not try to defame anyone with slander, id much prefer to discuss the topic at hand, but if thats how you have to debate, so be it.

Now look, if you want to have a debate on this subject, id be more than happy too, i can discuss free trade, the IMF, NATO, U.N, Europe and more or less any other aspect of international relations and geo politics all night long, but ill try and make this as obvious as possible.

www.amazon.com...=pd_sim_b_1

This is more or less an encyclopedia concerning how America has asserted itself as the most dominant, powerful state in the history of our planet, everything in there is totaly factual, it contains information anyone can find, even yourself. Theres is no nation, absolutely none that can compete with America when it comes down to it, they essentialy have the power to obliterate any nation of the face of the earth literaly in a matter of minutes.

NOW i understand the American economy is infact in dire straits, and is seeking what is essentialy economic aid from China, however this does not in anyway shape or form alter the fact America is still the worlds only true superpower

LOL! While Ive never heard a more... err.. interesting way of describing it, IMO youre spot on!

I dont know, I certainly dont claim to know everything and sometimes take a stance just to discuss things, but Im really coming around to the idea that we are all destroying ourselves on purpose. The things we do or that china does make NO sense and then to play king of the hill over who has overtaken who is ridiculous. I really dont understand the goals or what the desired end result is to be honest. It doesnt seem to be success...

**shrug**

Or Ive chuged too much nyquil. Yes, Im poisoning myself in an effort to get better.. makes about as much sense as the china vs us pissing contest.

Uhm... defame and slander ( actually libel) ??? I was talking about myself wearing a tinfoil hat and not you.. I have no idea what your problem is but thats why Im not being sucked into a "debate". You attribute things to me that Im not even saying.

The article went on to boast how "China's emergence is increasingly shifting to debate over how the world will treat China, which is the world No. 1 and has overtaken the U.S."

A story like this does not appear by accident in the official Chinese Communist Party newspaper on the eve of a state visit to the world's (current) No. 1 power, the United States.

While Obama is bowing to China, the tightly controlled newspapers of China are saying they have overtaken the US and are now number 1. So why is Obama groveling to them when they are not showing the least bit of respect to the US?

(if this thread is already posted feel free to delete).

Not according to the CIA Factbook, at least with respect to GDP:

"Country Comparison :: GDP (purchasing power parity)"

"This entry gives the gross domestic product (GDP) or value of all final goods and services produced within a nation in a given year. A nation's GDP at purchasing power parity (PPP) exchange rates is the sum value of all goods and services produced in the country valued at prices prevailing in the United States. This is the measure most economists prefer when looking at per-capita welfare and when comparing living conditions or use of resources across countries. The measure is difficult to compute, as a US dollar value has to be assigned to all goods and services in the country regardless of whether these goods and services have a direct equivalent in the United States (for example, the value of an ox-cart or non-US military equipment); as a result, PPP estimates for some countries are based on a small and sometimes different set of goods and services. In addition, many countries do not formally participate in the World Bank's PPP project that calculates these measures, so the resulting GDP estimates for these countries may lack precision. For many developing countries, PPP-based GDP measures are multiples of the official exchange rate (OER) measure. The differences between the OER- and PPP-denominated GDP values for most of the wealthy industrialized countries are generally much smaller. "

lol righty ho then, again though, just take the time to educate yourself a little about the world stage and the history of it, really cant stress that enough. It will basicaly do you the world of good knowing what your talking about. Anyway, happy to help.

I have taken time to educate myself and know of your stance on it, youre not unique in your opinion. My opinion may be different than yours and it is arrogant to assume I am uneducated because our opinions differ.

America is #1 in innovation. We invent everything! Plus great movies and music! Yay, we're #1, we're #1! Actually, we are pretty much trend setters in tech and entertainment...we just don't make "things" so much anymore. We just invent them!

Nah man, its not because your opinion differs, its soley down to the fact you essentialy cannot discuss your opinion with any great depth, indicating a lack of knoweledge. This is why i am eager for debate, not because i get to prove my point without a shadow of a doubt, i personaly think that would be kinda weird, but because i might get to learn something new from another perspective.

But ill be honest man, could be wrong, i dunno, i got the impression id pretty much just be pwning you with sources you dont understand concerning ideas you find hard to grasp and id essentialy be wasting my time. And we cant have that, nope nope nope.

Oh and to the crazy man who is bombarding me with private messages about my Avatar, you sir, are madder than a sack of owls.

Saying that China is not showing respect to the US because a press article talks about China becoming n°1 from their point of view is maybe a little exagerrated, no ?
I'd rather not imagine the reaction if the article was actually critical of the USA.

I presume the american free press has took advantage of the summit to inflate the yellow peril lately, am I wrong ?

Fortunately, we are intelligent and rational people and these tricks don't work on us anymore...
