This ain't good at all. Pakistan is already in abject poverty and in big trouble because of all the floods they already have, there are still million of homeless people...

And now this? I hope it didn't killed anybody, but considering the strength of the earthquake... infrastructure sure took a hit.

This ain't good at all since it will breed more extremism since poverty and misery breeds extremism...

I have CNN on and this thread and the report on the earthquake were in sync! I hope this didn't happen in a populated area. A very significant quake!

Wow Pakistan is getting nailed. The flooding, now this?! Does anyone know if it was in or around a populated area?

If I'm not mistaken this is the fourth 7+ magnitude earthquake of 2011.

They are reporting on CNN that the quake was a 7.4 not 7.7, not unusual to get updates on the magnitudes, hope also it isn't in populated areas of Pakistan.

CNN states it was an orchard village with some structures. Depth of the quake unknown at this time.

Didn't hear about a US base close by, anyone have a source on this?

I check THIS site a couple times a day.

The data comes from the USGS, and is presented in a very user friendly manner (mouse-over a quake for more data, or the same on the graph for each days quakes to see how many & where). I also like the fact that it presents a simple to understand graphical comparisson of what the magnitudes mean.

The only downside is that it only covers 7 days.

Considering that I have yet to find a news article for an earthquake over 6.0 that din't result in multiple deaths... I doubt that this instance has spared all of the lives in the affected areas.

Wondering if there is a military post near the epicenter/border and if so, is everyone ok? Anyone know?

It was only 6 miles deep. This could cause a HECK of a lot of damage, even in an area with great building codes. Sending some prayers their way.

headache's passed.
I think the drones will be fine. I wouldn't worry about those who control them. They will not be fine.
