Well I just found out what's killing my oak trees here in S. Texas. We just had a visit from our county extension agent and they informed us that
our trees are dying due to a disease known as Hypoxylon Canker. Apparently, this disease is always present and most healthy trees can successfully
combat it, but when the trees are subjected to extreme stress the disease takes over and usually kills the tree. We had an 18 month long drought,
(worst I've seen in 20 yrs. here) which ended about a year ago and apparently this was the stress factor which triggered the death of at least a
dozen of my trees. More can be learned about this disease here;
