Incidentally - the metal ring around the bow in the Episode One footage (discussed since then) designates it as a San (Bushman) bow - it might be
stock footage.
However, the Bushmen always mark their bows that way - also the color of the hands change, and the typical 3-piece arrow can be seen.
The Bushman arrow always has three pieces - it is their unique technology.
The poisoned tip enters the animal, the rest is meant to fall off.
It is to ensure that the animal cannot brush away the entire arrow.
So this is not even an attempt to portray a real Native American arrow.
The tips of those arrows were big and nasty; the aim of the San arrow is just to get under the skin, and the tip is relatively tiny.
