I agree with NASA

How could anyone believe a film in which there are earthquakes in unexpected places, mass die offs of animals for no reason, government officials and rich business gazillionaires buying up bunkers and forming seed banks, government warnings of massive solar flares, swings in the winter temps were whole countries and continents are covered by snows and coldest temps in decades, ...yeah, why that's absolutely impossible.

Would never see any of that in the papers...

That's the thing though, most movie goers are more interested in hearing about the latest celebrity gossip so they wouldn't pick up any inconsistencies in science so movie makers can get away with throwing any old "science" in there. Even if it's wrong.

To be honest though, I don't really watch movies to say "no, that's wrong, how can a huge baby monster come from the sea like that? Cloverfield isn't very realistic, boo, boo you Hollywood for being so terrible".
