Military women on the front line

Before I even get started with this topic, I can honestly state that I am NOT gender biased. Quite frankly, there are millions of intelligent females who every day go to battle in the challenging world of once "male dominated" business & politics...and win.

But this kind of battle is much different. A precedence will be set regarding female contribution during the Iraqi war. For the first time US female soldiers might be fighting in door to door battles and possibly even engaging in hand to hand combat. In those instances, I truly fear for women and don't think they should be anywhere near such action. I just don't think they can handle it...physically or emotionally.

I would like get some feedback from military personnel who have trained with women. Would male soldiers trust a woman watching their six's in the teeth of battle?

I'm a nurse who, out of her own accord, made a descision to help out in the local navy base infirmary.
I am trained in Advanced First aid and level 2 hand to hand combat..still not complete but getting there!!

I am currently getting trained in the use of firearms and this weekend i am going on a training course for battlefield simulations and live fire training.

I come from a military background and i have many friends in the armed forces, both male and female. I think that it is inportant that both genders can do whatever they please as they are fighting for what they believe in and in some ways, having the other sex is useful as they are sometimes more agile for certain things and can give a sense of comfort.

I don't want to sound biased either, but I don't think women should be fighting in front line infantry.

I could imagine what the Iraqis would do to one of our women soldiers if she were captured. Then again, I guess if your a women and willing to take that chance that would be your choice.

Lets just pray that all the woman who are first line troops all have really bad PMS and then the Iraq's will be fleeing for their lives!!!

it's their choice. I've known quite a few military women over the years, and I wouldn't mess with some of them, hehe... I say, more power to 'em.

As for the rape thing....yeah, I'd hate to think what would happen to an Iraqi sodier trying to rape one of our girls, who's then seen by an uncle sam boy.... Let's just say, it would have to be a closed casket funeral....

I saw a report on CNN that showed we have some really skilled Air Force pilots that are women, actually quite a few. I don't know if they are best suited for the front lines, but as RavenStar said, that is their choice. Either way, women play a big part in our military whether it be as a pilot or a nurse or various other jobs.

I think I would have a difficult time if I were on the front lines with a woman. If she wanted to fly air cover or support and blow the crap outta the baddies before I go there then bully. I am all for it. My Aunt is a retired Lt Col in the USAF and I must say I respect her alot.

I don`t think the front line is the right place for anyone male or female so why can`t they join in the dying.
