And yet, conservatives want to end these programs altogether and shunt the money into wall street. So, who wants to kill granny again? The people who want to reform these programs and make sure that they last, or the people that want to end these programs altogether and give the money to people like Bernie Madoff?

Your basic argument then is one side is evil because it wants to follow the progressive doctrines as practiced by Nazism (eliminating non-workers) but the other side is evil because it wants to funnel money to the wealthy and that the former is clearly less evil than the latter?

I have an idea - how about a political ideology that respects life unconditionally and doesn't support the purposeful destruction of the non-rich class?

Personally . . .

I think all rational and particularly patriotic folks should avoid using the term

"Progressives."

There's NOTHING "PROGRESSIVE" about their perspective, convictions and/or goals.

They are REGRESSIVE . . . all the way back to Soddom and Gomorrah.

Does anyone realise the term 'security' is in 'social security' for a reason?

There is nothing particularly secure about social security. The money, that you earn, is siphoned off of the moment you make it. It is not placed in a secure account or converted to a physical asset which holds value. It is spent, it and trillions of others like it are spent, creating an annual deficit and long-term debt.

When you get to retirement age (which can be moved with the stroke of a pen) you social security check will be disbursed out of thin air because the nation will still be running a deficit and will still be hundreds of trillions of dollars in debt.

The inflation, which they try to hold down through all kinds of maneuvers will ensure that for every dollar stolen from you when you were 20 will net you 30 cents or less when you are 65. In other words, the money taken from you which might be able to pay for rent will not be able to pay for rent 45 years later (it won't even come close).

Social security also relies upon a statist social contract understanding that the United States will hold on to its place as the world reserve currency then I'm afraid everyone is going to wake up and realize what a messed up country we've been living in for 40 years.

Old age used to command respect, it was at least meaningful. Now it has become quite the opposite.

People used to live hard and die young... Now they are permanently sedated.

Old age reflects how most of society lives their life.

Metaphysically... age is really a result of thinking alone. I've seen people with a childlike outlook who appeared 20 years younger. All the chemicals, poisons, and 'medicine' in the daily environment sure doesn't help either.

I recieve newsmax.com daily in e-mails. today this subject was front line. They call it the "death panel" . It is easier to stop giving life saving medications to the elderly, those on medicare, and the poor. Great way for depopulation. It is sad but Oh So true. I called my mother who is 68 on social security and medicare this morning after I read the article. She simply dont believe me, her explanation was this. They cant take medicare away from me I worked all my life for it. My reply, they can and are working out the details in secrecy. I told my husband who uses daily meds he needs to figure out a way to get off them because when the death panel is started and it will he will be prime picken for euthenization program which is being brought to our attention also through newsmax.com e-mails...Is there any possible way to stop them? the rich ellite and power hungry few who wish to dominate control and take over?

I guess if I had to chose who to trust more between the gov and private corporations ran by pyschopaths, I would still chose the gov. At least with the gov I feel we have more of a say in the issue whereas a corp would be more likely to remain inaccessible and leave you out in the cold with nothing but bootstraps.

Oh really? I don't recall ever supporting euthanasia for the sick and elderly.

I'm sorry, but posts like this just show your political ignorance and show that you're pushing the other guy's agenda, which as I hate to tell you, is not much different from what you claim that progressives support.

Can we get an "American Two-Party Ignorance" forum?

Do you not realize the common person has no voice in how the system works and is changed? They make us think we do but all the while they are behind clsed doors and in secrecy changing life as we know it. They can and they will...

I've stated this on other posts, but it's worth repeating. . . .

Someone one said that America is the land of equal oppourtunity, NOT equal outcome. People look at the social security/medicaid/medicare programs as entitlements. And people wonder why we've become a nation of gimmegimmegimme. . . .. . . .

when it comes to social security and medicare, my family has worked and payed into it for over 30 years on the assumption I would get it when I was of retirement age, and you say we dont deserve it? we are gimmie gimmies?

You also increase the age of retirement to 75 or 80 for those 40 and under like myself.

Given the way my genetics have manifested I will be lucky to see 65 -

Are your conservative mates gonna to deposit my contributions into my pin box after I have rotted for
close to two decades?

How 'bout we lock and secure all the programs we pay for so politicians cannot raid the funds in the first place?

Make %$%#%@ #$@%$#@% janitors and low skilled laborers work until they are 80 solid?

Damn those progressives they want to kill old people

It is enough to do away with Social Security, Welfare and all the Wealth Distribution schemes.
That is just not a duty of the state. Let everyone care for themselves. That would be justice.
I am sick of socialism and communism.

I am tired of having other people's hands on MY pocket.

Whatukno, I think this poster, beyondrainbow, made your point for you quite well. This is what's it's really about.
The two groups are "let the rich get richer" and in this poster's case "don't know enough to know how much I don't know".

The OP has it backwards, and you are trying to set it forth straight. They don't see it, and they won't see it, due to the aforementioned groups above, most of which fall into group two.

Maybe there is a third group. "I'm so ensconced in my own little miserable life, I don't have the inclination to notice other people".

Happy New Year everybody.

I guess for some that is the attitude. After several decades of pay'npay'npay the coming generations don't want to give us what we paid for. Was I just paying for the privilege of working in the US?

I took my retiremnt south f the border where healthcare costs are around one-tenth of what I pay in the US. If anything for that tenth of the cost I feel I get more personalized attention from my doctors there. I won't be using the medicare I paid for but I do want my Social Security check that I AM entitled to, regardless what young conservatives think.

Sick an elderly people help keep economies going, they buy lottery tickets, ,miracle cures from pastors and other charlatans, the extrawarm single slipper and copper bracelet companies would suffer immensely with out them not to mention big pharma.

Perhaps if we are going to kill off the sick and elderly then maybe we should stick to just the poor ones, after all who the hell needs poor people draining the meager resources of the planet that can barely accommodate the rich?

The problem is the Progressives see the State as Almighty and they can control every aspect of your life through heavy regulation. This is why they want control of the internet. There's too much freedom on the internet and not enough regulation.

The Progressive movement is the antithesis to what America stands for. America is about the Liberty and Freedom of the individual. The Creator is Almighty and gives us our rights.

A Progressive thinks the State is more important than the individual. An older person should do the Honorable thing and die so the State could use those resources for other Government programs. They see the State as Almighty and we don't get are rights from our Creator, they derive from the State.

They want the elderly to bypass expensive treatment, take a pain pill and die.

It's just common sense. Medicare and Social Security has to be phased out because they are Pyramid schemes and life expectancy is increasing.

Those under 40 should be able to invest half of their S.S. money into Thrift Savings Account type funds that they can start to draw on at age 65 while the retirement age is raise for those 40 and under. Congress invests in these plans. Federal employees invest in these plans.

The reason they don't want use to invest in these plans is because S.S. is a Pyramid scheme and they want to waste and spend the money.
