Before this congress gets into session and they start stripping the constitution of most of the protections offered by the Bill of Rights and the other Amendments, and jack booted thugs hired by the Right wingers start storming into our houses and putting their boots to our necks for being intelligent free thinking individuals, is it time for Americans who really love freedom to go to Canada?

I for one don't really feel like being water-boarded for being left of center politically, I don't really want to be stomped on by some jack booted thug for expressing what used to be the 1st Amendment. I certainly don't want to be a slave sold to a landowner. Maybe it's time that I move to Canada to flee before the Gestapo Right comes crashing through my door guns drawn and they put me in jail for having an opinion that is pro freedom.

Hyperbole much? Tell you what, Canada will not help you unless you have a bunch of gold. Federal Reserve is spinning up the printing presses. Tell me wuk, if the darn blasted economy is doing so well, why do you think they are going to start QE?

Do they want the US to go into hyper inflation?

Well if you do not like waterboarding, with you out of the country Obama will have all the right to assassinate you though.

All I am saying is I don't want to be in a prison indefinitely with no charges being filed, I don't want to be stomped on by goons, and I don't want to be sold into slavery by slave traders because of my income level.

Maybe I can be a political refugee in Canada, somewhere where they still understand freedom and not fascism.

Wait a while to ensure that it does in fact get worse.
You may then have better luck than the Quaids and try for asylum.

Surely it's worth the punt to try getting resettlement benefits from the Canadian Govt as a refugee.
I mean, your'e turning over a new leaf in life,
why stick with the 'work-like-a-dog-and-get-screwed-over' methods again.
Enjoy the social benefits for a change...

Not to disillusion you too much...but the Federal Government of Canada is run by something called the Conservative Party...the Prime Minister was a big supporter of President Bush and his foreign policy initiatives.

They are kind of like "Republicans of the North". The Liberal Party is in disarray...and has been for a decade or more...and is unlikely to gain power any time soon. There is, of course, the socialist leaning New Democratic Party...in many ways the Trade Unions' political voice...who are a very weak third party and will never form a Government - ever.

Then there is the Bloc Quebecois...a Federal Party that is dedicated to the break-up of the country (they want the Province of Quebec to set up their own Country). They are always good for a laugh as the Government tries to enact laws that would benefit some parts of Canada more than Quebec.

So...yeah... on up to Canada to escape the effects of a newly Republican House of Representatives. That'll work.

Well you may fit right in with this guy.

Randy Quaid and his conspiracy theories.

Hey, he has crazy conspiracy theories he spouts off about too. Check it out, you and he could have a ball.

You are right, though, there are not a lot of "jack booted" goons in Canada. Jack boots have been in short supply since they cut back (waaaay back) military budgets back during the days of the Liberal governance. And, so far as I know people are not held long without charges being laid...or until they are handed over to Afghan interrogators for further processing...

Anyway...all just tongue in cheek. Canada and America are both great countries full of great people. We'll all figure out a way to straighten out our politicians eventually. This was a good second step...

Bush was acting a little crazy (or at least a little extreme) and so Americans turned to Obama and the Democrats. They did not deliver the positive "change" promised - and changed a number of things people did not want changed - and now they got the boot.

If that doesn't wake them up, then I am sure a strong third (or fourth) party challenge will emerge to finally change things up.

This has got to be one of the most paranoid rants I've seen on ATS in a long time.

What about this?

The Voice of Reason In an Unreasonable World

Are you just throwing that moniker out to make your hyperbolic vitriol seem like it may actually be reasonable? Dude, slow down, take some time to think about the things you say.

I saw your thread about how TPM members are like terrorists, and that candidates for the TPM are stealth Al Qaeda. This is exactly the same BS that was spewed by neo-cons against the left when Bush was in power. I fail to see how acting like the very people you despise is helping you in any way.

Set aside the hyperbole, the superlatives, and the name-calling. It doesn't help to build credibility to your political arguments. And maybe that's contributive to how this election turned out. You attract more bees with honey as they say...

I am not against real conservatives, there's nothing wrong with real conservatives, what is wrong are these Extremist Conservatives [snip], Just ask him about his feelings on the 13th Amendment and you will see that if people like him are in charge, were all doomed here in America to a fascist state complete with jack booted thugs just itching to stomp on our necks and send us off to secret prisons where we are tortured, with no trial.

If you are worried about your constitutional rights being violated, then I'm sure that you are just as concerned about them being violated under the Obama regime, right? FORCING people to purchase a product (health care) and saying they'll get fined or tossed in prison (or both) if they don't ... stealing people's money and redistributing it as they see fit (redistribution of wealth instead of wealth creation) .... etc etc

Well now that the GOP is in charge again I am sure they won't have any problem with throwing the poor into prison for not being able to pay for health care. It will be a nice change for them instead of having to come up with bogus charges to try and pin on people in order to throw them in jail for being poor.

You are worried about the "fascists' and "jack booted thugs" forcing a lifestyle upon you? Really?

What about Obama's attempts to tell me how warm or cool I can keep my house, or buying into a healthcare system I don't want or telling me what I can and can't eat, or penalized for what I drive or how I live or Obama's "fascist" government control of the banking and lending and auto and real estate industries?

As a free thinking American...not Demo or Repub....American...you are always welcome here...just like me... and anyone else. No need to run yet.

Um .... that's the OBAMA regime that insisted on pushing that law through (Obamacare) before anyone had even read it. The Republicans didn't want that law. They are fighting against it. The republican members of the house want to be rid of that law the DEMOCRATS pushed through that will put poor people into prison for not being able (or willing) to pay for Obamacare.

Sorry bud .. ya' got it backwards.

You sound exactly like Alan Grayson

And you know what happened?

People rejected him at the ballot box. What does that mean to you? It means most people reject that sort of paranoid hyperbole, and thank God they do.

You should Listen more to Jon Stewart Than Alan Grayson

He isn't lying.

That is the GOP Health Care Plan.

It's not paranoia if it's actually happening.

Wow, and they talk about fear and paranoia among conservatives and tea party members around here. The left wing seems to be having a collective nervous breakdown this morning.

Last I checked, the Democrats still hold the Senate and the Presidency. The balance of power still leans in their direction. They're still going to be the ones largely dictating the agenda, though they will no longer have the ability to just cram anything they want through Congress as before.

No one but political zealots believe that sort of thing.

It isn't happening. Conservatives and Liberals have different methods for doing things. policy discussions shouldn't be devolving into this. For someone who claims to be a voice of reason you sure do come off as someone who's full of irrational fears.

After two years of listening to the Right tell us all about their revolutions, and military coups and shooting people in the streets here on ATS, do you think that it's irrational to worry when these people get into power?

Do you think it's irrational when supporters of these candidates think it's just fine to do this:

Now they will all feel empowered and justified to do that to any person that leans anywhere near left.

No I do not think it's ok to hurt people. Nor do I think it is ok to cast wide dispersions on whole groups of people based on whatever you're being told by Olbermann and Schultz, or Hannity and Limbaugh. This sort of thing displays a lack of social understanding on your part.

I have tea partiers, communists, liberals, and a whole host of other political affiliations listed among my friends. MOST of these people are NOT those people in that video, or the jack asses who show up to the G20 to start crap with the cops.

You're letting the fear machine from the 10% of this country who really believes this crap to influence how you see your neighbors, and the people you encounter every day. This is not healthy behavior. It is paranoid, isolating, and ultimately self-destructive.

Open your mind more dude. If you continue this path, you will wind up like the fringe 10% who have poisoned this country, and thus will become part of the problem.
