Home schooling does not mean "by the parent," i.e.: The parent is not the teacher. In the case of my grandson, for example, the schooling is online, supervised by certified teachers, with daily assignments submitted to the online organization. I was skeptical at first, but once I looked at the online curriculum and saw how comprehensive the program was, I changed my mind. He's also doing very well, is no longer considered "developmentally disabled" and he's doing much better than he did in physical school. I'm very pleased.

Wouldn't it be better to campaign to improve the quality of education by setting clearer targets and deadlines? Isn't it better to set contracts between parents and teachers to ensure that the kids learn? Or better yet just send teachers to the british Carribean to learn how to do it as the English did in the eighties??

American enumeracy is cause for concern.
