Rep. Ron Paul brought a crowd at the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Convention to its feet October 9th, delivering a fiery speech about an “intellectual revolution.” He said the economy is going “to get a lot worse before it gets better” and advocated getting rid of the IRS and the income tax.

What I find particularly beautiful is that this comes to us from RT.

I find some humor in the fact American's have to turn to foreign news agencies to get real information.

yep, real Presidential material right there.

but I do have just 1 question for Dr. Paul.
I do hope he answers it one day.

If he was president and ended the fed,
would he also end Social Security
retirement benefits????

and what about welfare and food stamps?
will these entitlements disappear if
he is president? Just how would he settle
that issue?

I have aging parents that totally rely
on SS to survive. If that is cut, might
as well lay them in their grave.

He's answered that many many times.

What he would do is first cut military spending and hopefully stabilize the economy enough that people could be weened off of the welfare.

This would entail social security opt outs, privatizing social security, and moving toward a tax based welfare system for old people.

In a perfect world, Paul would get rid of all the welfare programs, but he recognizes that is not possible until a sound economic foundation has been restored.

I'm not quite sure I understand what this means
as it sounds jibberish to me. Explain to me
how this would work. thanks

Ok, lets just leave it at:

If Paul became president, he would not abandon social security recipients or welfare recipients.

He would ensure that the people who were dependent upon government assistance to live still got their assistance.

Paul wouldn't have the power to abandon those programs anyways, since this is something the legislature would have to deal with.

He belives in a transition period where govt. still takes care of those that got used to getting taken care of, at least until the economy thrives once again.
When it does, he believes in personal responsibility but also ending the income tax so people have more money to both buy and to save.
